#7 Paola e Ada - Vivere in una nuova città

Paola: Ciao Ada, come stai?

Paola: Guarda, Ada, all'inizio ho fatto quello che fanno tutti…..

Ada: E cioè?

Racconta, racconta….

Paola: E come, no?

Ci ho pensato, ci ho pensato, eccome!

Ada: Ma no!

Paola: Troppo complicato per me.

Se verrai ti presenterò all'istruttore.

Paola: Buona idea, allora ci vediamo mercoledì, in palestra.

Ada: A mercoledì.

Paola: Ciao.

Ada: Ciao.

Paola: Ciao Ada, come stai? Paola: Hallo Ada, wie geht es dir? Paola: Hi Ada, how are you? Paola: Salut Ada, comment vas-tu?

We have not seen each other in a long time ... maybe since I had just moved from Palermo to Rome ... a long time ago. I was really confused at the time: too many things to do, I did not even know the streets of Rome and I did not even know how to move. I was used to Palermo which, compared to Rome, is almost a very small city.

Ada: And tell me a little 'Paola, was it difficult to Palermo to Rome?

Paola: Yes, yes, it was really difficult because, as I told you before, I came here to Rome because I needed to find a job and not because I really wanted to change cities.

Ada: What do you think of the chaos of this city?

Paola: You're right, it's just a chaos, in fact.

But now I'm quite used to it and I think I could not do without it.

Ada: And tell me how you organized yourself to survive this chaos? Ada: Og fortell meg hvordan organiserte du deg for å overleve dette kaoset?

Paola: Guarda, Ada, all'inizio ho fatto quello che fanno tutti….. Paola: Schau mal, Ada, am Anfang habe ich getan, was jeder tut ... Paola: Look, Ada, at the beginning I did what everyone does ...

Ada: And that is? Ada: Et c'est ça? Ada: Hva er det?

Racconta, racconta…. Erzähl, erzähl ... Tell, tell ... Dis, dis ... Fortell, fortell ...

Paola: Well, at the beginning, I told you, I settled in a friend's house, then I started looking to look at various newspaper ads and I saw several apartments.

Ada: Sårt poeng i Roma!

I dare not even imagine how difficult it was for you to find a home ...

Paola: Oh yes, you are right. Paola: Oui, tu as raison.

At the beginning, among other things, I wanted to live in the center, so I started looking for a home in the most central areas of Rome, then ... given the prohibitive prices I had to change my mind and I started to look for in suburbs.

Ada: Then it was easier for you to find an apartment ...

Paola: Well, it was not easy, however, in the end, however, I succeeded, I found what, let's say, I wanted, what was in my dreams ...

Ada: And where is this house?

Paola: The house is located on the outskirts, on the northern outskirts of Rome.

It is a quiet neighborhood, surrounded by greenery. Think that from the windows you can see the trees of a park and in the morning I hear the birds chirping!

Ada: Also jetzt hast du was du wolltest. Ada: So now you have what you wanted.

But, tell me Paola, do you live alone or ... with another person?

Paola: Well, no, this too was an obligatory choice, like all the choices since I live in Rome, now I share the flat with a girl.

Ada: In what sense, obliged? Ada: ¿En qué sentido, obligado? Ada: Dans quel sens, forcé? Ada: I hvilken forstand, forpliktet?

Paola: But look, the rents in Rome, even in the suburbs are very high and so I had to choose to share the apartment and, consequently also the expenses, with a girl, in fact.

Now we have become great friends, even if we do not see each other because she, because of her work, comes back late at night, when I am already in bed. While I, on the contrary, get up early in the morning and leave the house early.

Ada: Why, at what time do you leave the house?

Paola: Presto, prestissimo. Paola: Schnell, sehr bald. Paola: Soon, very soon. Paola: Snart, veldig snart.

At half past six the alarm goes off and at seven they are already out of the house.

Ada: Damn, at seven, in some periods of the year it's still dark, and I just could not wake up so soon!

Paola: Eh, who do you say that!

Imagine that when I was in Palermo, I got up at eight, every morning.

Ada: But what do you do to be forced out so early? Ada: Men hva gjør du for å bli tvunget ut så snart?

Paola: Look, it's a very normal job.

I deal with accounting in an import / export company.

Paola: Well, yes, the work is interesting but I get up so early because of the distance from home to the office and, also, to avoid traffic.

Ada: Traffic, we do not talk about it, Rome is unliveable in some respects!

Hours and hours in a row between cars that trumpet and irascible people, ready to react negatively for a hypothetical wrong immediately.

Paola: We do not talk about it. Paola: Realmente no hablamos de eso. Paola: On n'en parle pas vraiment. Paola: Vi snakker egentlig ikke om det.

Pensa che a Palermo mi muovevo solo a piedi. Do you think that in Palermo I moved only on foot. Here in Rome at the beginning I also needed two hours to reach the office. Her i Roma i begynnelsen trengte jeg også to timer for å nå kontoret. Naturalmente se tutto filava liscio! Natürlich, wenn alles glatt lief! Of course if everything went smoothly!

Ada: Two hours?

Ma sono tantissime in una giornata! Aber es gibt viele an einem Tag! But they are so many in one day!

Paola: Eh, two hours, you're right. Paola: Eh, deux heures, tu as raison. Paola: Eh, to timer, du har rett.

And now it's getting a little better, since I decided to leave the car and go to the office by train. Ora riesco anche a calcolare tutti i  tempi. Jetzt kann ich auch alle mal rechnen. Now I can also calculate all the times. So quando arrivo in ufficio a meno di fatti eccezionali. I know when I get to the office less than exceptional facts.

Ada: But isn't the train boring?

At the bottom you must always submit to specific times. Impossible to stop, have a chat.

Paola: Well, that's true, but I can read the paper while sitting comfortably on the train.

Ada: Durante il viaggio, allora, riesci pure a rilassarti? Ada: So, during the trip, can you relax? Ada: Durante el viaje, entonces, ¿puedes siquiera relajarte?

Paola: Yes, this is one of the positive sides.

But on the other hand, then, I do not see any other solution right now.

Ada: But have you ever thought about buying a scooter?

Paola: E come, no? Paola: Und wie? Paola: And how, no? Paola: Et comment, non? Paola: Og hvordan, ikke sant?

Ci ho pensato, ci ho pensato, eccome! I thought about it, I thought about it, and how! Lo he pensado, lo he pensado, ¡y cómo! But the idea scares me a little. Men ideen skremmer meg litt. When I went to the office with the car I saw all those motorcyclists who walked the streets almost on the wrong side, to avoid the queues and I was terrified. And to say that in Palermo I used it too!

Ada: You could start using it here too, maybe just to cover short sections.

Paola: I just have to make up my mind, I'm just waiting for the weather to get better because with the rain it would be even harder for me to get involved in the traffic.

Ada:… and even more dangerous! Ada: ... og enda farligere!

Ma, di necessità si deve far virtù! Aber notwendigerweise muss Tugend gemacht werden! But of necessity one must make virtue! And I'm an example: it rains, rains, snows are always on the scooter.

Paola: Yes, that's right.

In fact you always have a cough and a sore throat!

Ada: Ma no! Ada: Aber nein! Ada: But no! Ada: Mais non!

Non è vero…. It's not true…. Just a bit of hoarseness from time to time. But, I assure you, nothing compared to the value of the time earned!

Paola: Si, in fondo hai proprio ragione ma, devo ancora decidermi. Paola: Yes, basically you're right but, I still have to decide.

In the meantime, I can ask my parents to send me my old scooter here in Rome. En attendant, je peux demander à mes parents d'envoyer mon vieux scooter ici à Rome. I mellomtiden kan jeg be foreldrene mine om å sende meg den gamle mopeden min her i Roma. Maybe I will do as you say, I will begin to use it to make small trips, to go shopping, for small trips.

Ada: Es steht dir gut, es steht dir gut! Ada: It suits you, it's convenient, and how! Ada: Ça te va, ça te va, d'accord!

I would have already done it for you!

Paola: But I have to consider the problem of the garage ... I doubt that a motor, even if as old as mine, could survive for many days parked under the house.

Ada: You're right, you really should find a garage, a garage near your home, there you could park the scooter in the evening.

But by day, you know, it's not like that. In Rome there are many scooters. Simply use a disc lock to prevent it from being stolen.

Paola: Un blocca-disco? Paola: Ein Scheibenschloss? Paola: A lock-disk?

Che cos'è? Was ist das? What is that? Non va più bene la vecchia catena? Ist die alte Kette nicht mehr gut? Is not the old chain okay?

Ada: Yes, that always goes well but the disk-lock gives you more confidence!

Paola: I'm sorry but I do not know what we're talking about ...

Ada: The disc lock is a kind of padlock.

It is used to block the brake disc of the front wheel of the motor.

Paola: Troppo complicato per me. Paola: Für mich zu kompliziert. Paola: Too complicated for me.

I did not understand what is the block-disk, however, maybe one of these days you can show me how it works?

Ada: Of course, when you want .. but think of the advantage of using the scooter, at the time gained that you can use to do anything else: gym, shopping, friends, and not just work ....

Paola: Apropos Fitnessstudio…. Paola: About gym ... Paola: À propos du gymnase…. Paola: Apropos treningsstudioet….

Volevo iscrivermi nella tua palestra. Ich wollte in dein Fitnessstudio gehen. I wanted to enroll in your gym.

Ada: Great idea, it's a way to start recovering the relationship with time.

I really think we'll go next Wednesday at seven in the evening. Se verrai ti presenterò all'istruttore. If you come, I'll introduce you to the instructor.

Paola: Buona idea, allora ci vediamo mercoledì, in palestra. Paola: Good idea, then see you on Wednesday at the gym.

Ada: A mercoledì. Ada: See you Wednesday.

Paola: Ciao. Paula: Hi.

Ada: Ciao. Adam: Hi.
