老刀 从 西单 出来 ，依 原路 返回 。 重新 走 早上 的 路 ，他 觉得 倦意 丛生 ，一步 也 跑不动 了 。 宽阔 的 步行街 两侧 是 一排 垂柳 和 一排 梧桐 ，正是 晚春 ，都 是 鲜亮 的 绿色 。 他 让 暖意 丛生 的 午后 阳光 照亮 僵硬 的 面孔 ，也 照亮 空乏 的 心底 。

他 回到 早上 离开 的 园子 ，赫然 发现 园子 里 来往 的 人 很多 。 园子 外面 两排 银杏树 庄严 茂盛 。 园 门口 有 黑色 小汽车 驶入 。 园里 的 人 多半 穿着 材质 顺滑 、 剪裁 合体 的 西装 ， 也 有 穿 黑色 中式 正装 的 ， 看上去 都 有 一番 眼高于顶 的 气质 。 也 有 外国人 。 他们 有 的 正在 和 身边 人 讨论 什么 ，有 的 远远地 相互 打招呼 ，笑着 携手 向前 走 。

老刀 犹豫 了 一下 要 到 哪里 去 ，街上 人 很少 ，他 一个 人 站 着 极为 显眼 ，去 公共场所 又 容易 被 注意 ，他 很 想 回到 园子 里 ，早 一点 找到 转换 地 ，到 一个 没人 的 角落 睡 上 一觉 。 他 太 困 了 ，又 不敢 在 街上 睡 。 他 见 出入 园子 的 车辆 并 无 停滞 ，就 也 尝试 着 向 里 走 。 直到 走到 园 门边 上 ，他 才 发现 有 两个 小 机器人 左右 逡巡 。 其他人 和 车 走过 都 毫无 问题 ，到 了 老刀 这里 ，小 机器人 忽然 发出 嘀嘀 的 叫声 ，转着 轮子 向 他 驶来 。 声音 在 宁静 的 午后 显得 刺耳 。 园里 人 的 目光 汇集 到 他 身上 。 他 慌 了 ，不 知道 是不是 自己 的 衬衫 太 寒酸 。 他 尝试 着 低声 对 小 机器人 说话 ， 说 他 的 西装 落 在 里面 了 ， 可是 小 机器人 只是 嘀 嘀嗒 嗒 地 叫 着 ， 头顶 红灯 闪烁 ， 什么 都 不 听 。 园里 的 人们 停下 脚步 看着 他 ，像是 看到 小偷 或 奇怪 的 人 。 很快 ，从 最近 的 建筑 中 走出 三个 男人 ，步履 匆匆 地 向 他们 跑过来 。 老刀 紧张 极了 ，他 想 退出 去 ，已经 太晚 了 。

“出 什么 事 了 ？ ”领头 的 人 高声 询问 着 。

老刀 想不出 解释 的话 ，手 下意识 地 搓 着 裤子 。

一个 三十几岁 的 男人 走 在 最 前面 ， 一到 跟前 就 用 一个 纽扣 一样 的 小 银盘 上上下下 地晃 ， 手 的 轨迹 围绕 着 老刀 。 他 用 怀疑 的 眼神 打量 他 ，像 用 罐头 刀 试图 撬开 他 的 外壳 。

“没 记录 。 ”男人 将 手中 的小 银盘 向 身后 更 年长 的 男人 示意 ，“带回去 吧 ？ ”老刀 突然 向 后 跑 ，向 园外 跑 。 可 没 等 他 跑出去 ，两个 小 机器人 悄无声息 挡 在 他 面前 ，扣住 他 的 小腿 。 它们 的 手臂 是 箍 ，轻轻 一 扣 就 合上 。 他 一下子 踉跄 了 ，差点 摔倒 又 摔 不 倒 ，手臂 在 空中 无力 的 乱划 。

“跑 什么 ？ ”年轻 男人 更 严厉 地 走 到 他 面前 ，瞪 着 他 的 眼睛 。

“我 …”老刀 头脑 嗡嗡响 。

两个 小 机器人 将 他 的 两条 小腿 扣紧 ，抬起 ，放在 它们 轮子 边上 的 平台 上 ，然后 异常 同步 地 向 最近 的 房子 驶去 ，平稳 迅速 ，保持 并肩 ，从 远处 看上去 ，或许 会 以为 老刀 脚 踩 风火轮 。 老刀 毫无办法 ， 除了 心里 暗 喊一声 糟糕 ， 简直 没有 别的 话 说 。 他 懊恼 自己 如此 大意 ，人 这么 多 的 地方 ，怎么 可能 没有 安全 保障 。 他 责怪 自己 是 困倦 得 昏 了 头 ，竟然 在 这样 大 的 安全 关节 上 犯 如此 低级 的 错误 。 这下 一切 完蛋 了 ，他 想 ，钱 都 没 了 ，还要 坐牢 。

小 机器人 从 小路 绕 向 建筑 后门 ，在 后门 的 门廊 里 停下来 。 三个 男人 跟 了 上来 。 年轻 男人 和 年长 男人 似乎 就 老刀 的 处理 问题 起 了 争执 ，但 他们 的 声音 很 低 ，老刀 听不见 。 片刻 之后 ，年长 男人 走到 他 身边 ，将 小 机器人 解锁 ，然后 拉着 他的 大臂 走上 二楼 。

老刀 叹 了 一口气 ，横 下 一条心 ，觉得 事 到如今 ，只好 认命 。

年长者 带 他 进入 一个 房间 。 他 发现 这是 一个 旅馆 房间 ， 非常 大 ， 比 秦天 的 公寓 客厅 还 大 ， 似乎 有 自己 租 的 房子 两倍 大 。 房间 的 色调 是 暗沉 的 金 褐色 ，一张 极 宽大 的 双人床 摆在 中央 。 床头 背后 的 墙面 上 是 颜色 过渡 的 抽象 图案 ，落地窗 ，白色 半透明 纱帘 ，窗前 是 一个 小 圆桌 和 两张 沙发 。 他 心里 惴惴 。 不 知道 年长者 的 身份 和 态度 。

“ 坐 吧 ， 坐 吧 。 ”年长者 拍拍 他 肩膀 ，笑笑 ，“没事 了 。 ”老刀 狐疑 地 看着 他 。 “你 是 第三 空间 来 的 吧 ？ ”年长者 把 他 拉到 沙发 边上 ，伸手 示意 。

“您 怎么 知道 ？ ”老刀 无法 撒谎 。

“从 你 裤子 上 。 ”年长者 用 手指 指 他 的 裤腰 ，“你 那 商标 还 没 剪 呢 。 这 牌子 只有 第三 空间 有 卖 的 。 我 小时候 我妈 就 喜欢 给 我 爸 买 这 牌子 。 ”“您 是 …” “别 您 您的 ，叫 你 吧 。 我 估摸 着 我 也 比 你 大不了 几岁 。 你 今年 多大 ？ 我 五十二 。 …你 看看 ，就 比 你 大 四岁 。 ”他 顿 了 一下 ，又 说 ，“我 叫 葛 大平 ，你 叫 我 老葛 吧 。 ”老刀 放松 了 些 。 老葛 把 西装 脱 了 ，活动 了 一下 膀子 ，从 墙壁 里 接 了 一杯 热水 ，递给 老刀 。 他 长长的 脸 ，眼角 眉梢 和 两颊 都 有些 下坠 ，戴 一副 眼镜 ，也 向下 耷拉 着 ，头发 有点 自来卷 ，蓬松 地 堆 在 头顶 ，说起 话 来 眉毛 一跳一跳 ，很 有 喜剧 效果 。 他 自己 泡 了 点 茶 ， 问老刀 要 不要 ， 老刀 摇摇头 。

“我 原来 也 是 第三 空间 的 。 咱 也 算 半个 老乡 吧 。 ”老葛 说 ，“所以 不用 太 拘束 。 我 还是 能 管 点 事儿 ， 不会 把 你 送出去 的 。 ”老刀 长长地 出 了 口气 ，心里 感叹 万幸 。 他 于是 把 自己 到 第二 、 第一 空间 的 始末 讲 了 一遍 ， 略去 依言 感情 的 细节 ， 只 说 送到 了 信 ， 就 等 着 回去 。

老葛 于是 也 不见 外 ，把 他 自己 的 情况 讲 了 。 他 从小 也 在 第三 空间 长大 ，父母 都 给 人 送货 。 十五岁 的 时候 考上 了 军校 ， 后来 一直 当兵 ， 文化 兵 ， 研究 雷达 ， 能 吃苦 ， 技术 又 做 得 不错 ， 赶上 机遇 又 好 ， 居然 升 到 了 雷达 部门 主管 ， 大校 军衔 。 家里 没 背景 不 可能 再 升 ，就 申请 转业 ，到 了 第一 空间 一个 支持性 部门 ，专给 政府 企业 做 后勤保障 ，组织 会议 出行 ，安排 各种 场面 。 虽然 是 蓝领 的 活儿 ，但 因为 涉及 的 都 是 政要 ，又 要 协调 管理 ，就 一直 住 在 第一 空间 。 这种 人 也 不少 ，厨师 、大夫 、秘书 、管家 ，都 算是 高级 蓝领 了 。 他们 这个 机构 安排 过 很多 重大 场合 ，老葛 现在 是 主任 。 老刀 知道 ，老葛 说 的 谦虚 ，说 是 蓝领 ，其实 能 在 第一 空间 做事 的 都 是 牛人 ，即使 厨师 也 不 简单 ，更何况 他 从 第三 空间 上来 ，能 管 雷达 。

“你 在 这儿 睡 一会儿 。 待会儿 晚上 我 带 你 吃饭 去 。 ”老葛 说 。

老刀 受宠若惊 ，不大 相信 自己 的 好运 。 他 心里 还有 担心 ，但是 白色 的 床单 和 错落 堆积 的 枕头 显出 召唤 气息 ，他 的 腿 立刻 发软 了 ，倒头 昏昏沉沉 睡 了 几个 小时 。

醒来 的 时候 天色 暗 了 ，老葛 正 对着 镜子 捋 头发 。 他 向 老刀 指 了 指 沙发 上 的 一套 西装 制服 ，让 他 换上 ，又 给 他 胸口 别上 一个 微微 闪着 红光 的 小 徽章 ，身份 认证 。

下楼 来 ，老刀 发现 原来 这里 有 这么 多人 。 似乎 刚刚 散会 ，在 大厅 里 聚集 三三两两 说话 。 大厅 一侧 是 会场 ，门 还 开着 ，门 看上去 很 厚 ，包 着 红褐色 皮子 ；另一侧 是 一个 一个 铺着 白色 桌布 的 高脚 桌 ，桌布 在 桌面 下 用 金色 缎带 打 了 蝴蝶结 ，桌 中央 的小 花瓶 插 着 一只 百合 ，花瓶 旁边 摆着 饼干 和 干果 ，一旁 的 长桌 上 则 有 红酒 和 咖啡 供应 。 聊天 的 人们 在 高脚 桌 之间 穿梭 ，小 机器人 头顶 托盘 ，收拾 喝光 的 酒杯 。

老刀 尽量 镇定 地 跟着 老葛 。 走 到 会场 内 ，他 忽然 看到 一面 巨大 的 展示牌 ，上面 写着 ：

折叠 城市 五十年 。

“ 这是 … 什么 ？ ”他 问 老葛 。

“哦 ， 庆典 啊 。 ”老葛 正在 监督 场内 布置 ，“小赵 ，你 来 一下 ，你 去 把 桌签 再 核对 一遍 。 机器人 有时候 还是 不如 人 靠谱 ，它们 认死理 儿 。 ”老刀 看到 ，会场 里 现在 是 晚宴 的 布置 ，每 张 大 圆 桌 上 都 摆 着 鲜艳 的 花朵 。 他 有 一种 恍惚 的 感觉 ，站 在 角落里 ，看着 会场 中央 巨大 的 吊灯 ，像是 被 某种 光芒四射 的 现实 笼罩 ，却 只 存在 在 它 的 边缘 。 舞台 中央 是 演讲 的 高台 ，背后 的 布景 流动 播映 着 北京城 的 画面 。 大概 是 航拍 ，拍到 了 全城 的 风景 ，清晨 和 日暮 的 光影 ，紫红色 暗蓝色 天空 ，云层 快速 流转 ，月亮 从 角落 上 升起 ，太阳 在 屋檐 上 沉落 。 大气 中正 的 布局 ，沿 中轴线 对称 的 城市 设计 ，延伸 到 六环 的 青砖 院落 和 大面积 绿地 花园 。 中式 风格 的 剧院 ，日本式 美术馆 ，极简主义 风格 的 音乐厅 建筑群 。 然后 是 城市 的 全景 ，真正 意义 上 的 全景 ，包含 转换 的 整个 城市 双面 镜头 ：大地 翻转 ，另一面 城市 ，边角 锐利 的 写字楼 ，朝气蓬勃 的 上班族 ；夜晚 的 霓虹 ，白昼 一样 的 天空 ，高耸入云 的 公租房 ，影院 和 舞厅 的 娱乐 。

只是 没有 老刀 上班 的 地方 。

他 仔细 地 盯 着 屏幕 ，不 知道 其中 会 不会 展示 建城 时 的 历史 。 他 希望 能 看见 父亲 的 时代 。 小时候 父亲 总是 用 手指 着 窗外 的 楼 ，说 “当时 我们 ”。 狭小 的 房间 正 中央 挂 着 陈旧 的 照片 ，照片 里 的 父亲 重复 着 垒砖 的 动作 ，一遍 一遍 无穷无尽 。 他 那时 每天 都 要 看见 那 照片 很多遍 ，几乎 已经 腻烦 了 ，可是 这时 他 希望 影像 中 出现 哪怕 一小段 垒砖 的 镜头 。

他 沉浸 在 自己 的 恍惚 中 。 这 也 是 他 第一次 看到 转换 的 全景 。 他 几乎 没 注意 到 自己 是 怎么 坐下 的 ，也 没 注意 到 周围 人 的 落座 ，台上 人 讲话 的 前 几分钟 ，他 并 没 有 注意 听 。

“…有利于 服务业 的 发展 ，服务业 依赖于 人口 规模 和 密度 。 我们 现在 的 城市 服务业 已经 占到 GDP 85% 以上 ，符合 世界 第一流 都市 的 普遍 特征 。 另外 最 重要 的 就是 绿色 经济 和 循环 经济 。 ”这句 话 抓住 了 老刀 的 注意力 ，循环 经济 和 绿色 经济 是 他们 工作站 的 口号 ，写得 比 人 还 大 贴 在 墙上 。 他 望 向 台上 的 演讲人 ，是 个 白发 老人 ，但是 精神 显得 异常 饱满 ，“…通过 垃圾 的 完全 分类 处理 ，我们 提前 实现 了 本世纪 节能 减排 的 目标 ，减少 污染 ，也 发展 出 成 体系 成 规模 的 循环 经济 ，每年 废旧 电子产品 中 回收 的 贵金属 已经 完全 投入 再生产 ，塑料 的 回收率 也 已 达 到 80% 以上 。 回收 直接 与 再 加工 工厂 相连 …”

老刀 有 远亲 在 再 加工 工厂 工作 ，在 科技园区 ，远离 城市 ，只有 工厂 和 工厂 和 工厂 。 据说 那边 的 工厂 都 差不多 ，机器 自动 作业 ，工人 很少 ，少量 工人 晚上 聚集 着 ，就 像 荒野 部落 。

他 仍然 恍惚 着 。 演讲 结束 之后 ，热烈 的 掌声 响起 ，才 将 他 从 自己 的 纷乱 念头 中 拉 出来 ，他 也 跟着 鼓 了 掌 ，虽然 不 知道 为什么 。 他 看到 演讲人 从 舞台 上 走 下来 ，回到 主 桌上 正中间 的 座位 。 所有人 的 目光 都 跟着 他 。

忽然 老刀 看到 了 吴闻 。

吴闻 坐在 主桌 旁边 一桌 ，见 演讲人 回来 就 起身 去 敬酒 ，然后 似乎 有 什么 话 要 问 演讲人 。 演讲人 又 站 起身 ，跟 吴闻 一起 到 大厅 里 。 老刀 不 自觉 地站 起来 ， 心里 充满 好奇 ， 也 跟着 他们 。 老葛 不 知道 到 哪里 去 了 ，周围 开始 上菜 。

老刀 到 了 大厅 ，远远地 观望 ，对话 只能 听见 片段 。

“…批 这个 有 很多 好处 。 ”吴闻 说 ，“是 ，我 看过 他们 的 设备 了 …自动化 处理 垃圾 ，用 溶液 消解 ，大规模 提取 材质 …清洁 ，成本 也 低 …您 能 不能 考虑 一下 ？ ”吴闻 的 声音 不 高 ，但 老刀 清楚 地 听见 “处理 垃圾 ”的 字眼 ，不由自主 凑上 前去 。 白发 老人 的 表情 相当 复杂 ，他 等 吴闻 说完 ，过 了 一会儿 才 问 ：“你 确定 溶液 无 污染 ？ ”吴闻 有点 犹豫 ：“现在 还是 有 一点 …不过 很快 就 能 减低 到 最低 。 ”老刀 离得 很 近 了 。 白发 老人 摇 了 摇头 ，眼睛 盯 着 吴闻 ：“事情 哪 是 那么 简单 的 ，你 这个 项目 要是 上马 了 ，大规模 一 改造 ，又 不 需要 工人 ，现在 那些 劳动力 怎么办 ，上 千万 垃圾 工 失业 怎么办 ？ ”白发 老人 说完 转过身 ，又 返回 会场 。 吴闻 呆愣愣 地 站 在 原地 。 一个 从始至终 跟着 老人 的 秘书 模样 的人 走到 吴闻 身旁 ，同情 地 说 ：“您 回去 好好 吃饭 吧 。 别 想 了 。 其实 您 应该 明白 这 道理 ，就业 的 事 是 顶天 的 事 。 您 以为 这种 技术 以前 就 没人 做 吗 ？ ”老刀 能 听 出 这 是 与 他 有关 的 事 ，但 他 摸 不准 怎样 是 好 的 。 吴闻 的 脸 显出 一种 迷惑 、懊恼 而 又 顺从 的 神情 ，老刀 忽然 觉得 ，他 也 有 软弱 的 地方 。

这时 ，白发 老人 的 秘书 忽然 注意 到 老刀 。

“你 是 新来 的 ？ ”他 突然 问 。

“啊 …嗯 。 ”老刀 吓 了 一跳 。

“叫 什么 名字 ？ 我 怎么 不知道 最近 进人 了 。 ”老刀 有些 慌 ，心 砰砰 跳 ，他 不 知道 该 说些 什么 。 他 指 了 指 胸口 上 别 着 的 工作人员 徽章 ，仿佛 期望 那 上面 有 个 名字 浮现 出来 。 但 徽章 上 什么 都 没有 。 他 的 手心 涌出 汗 。 秘书 看着 他 ，眼中 的 怀疑 更 甚 了 。 他 随手 拉着 一个 会务 人员 ，那人 说 不 认识 老刀 。

秘书 的 脸 铁青 着 ，一只 手 抓住 老刀 的 手臂 ，另一只 手 拨 了 通讯器 。

老刀 的 心 提到 嗓子眼 ，就 在 那 一刹那 ，他 看到 了 老葛 的 身影 。

老葛 一边 匆匆 跑过来 ，一边 按下 通讯器 ，笑着 和 秘书 打招呼 ，点头 弯腰 ，向 秘书 解释 说 这 是 临时 从 其他 单位 借调 过来 的 同事 ，开会 人手 不够 ，临时 帮忙 的 。 秘书 见 老葛 知情 ，也 就 不再 追究 ，返回 会场 。 老葛 将 老刀 又 带回 自己 的 房间 ，免得 再 被 人 撞见 查检 。 深究 起来 没有 身份 认证 ，老葛 也 做 不得 主 。

“没有 吃席 的 命 啊 。 ”老葛 笑 道 ，“你 等 着 吧 ，待会儿 我 给 你 弄 点 吃的 回来 。 ”老刀 躺 在 床上 ，又 迷迷糊糊 睡 了 。 他 反复 想着 吴闻 和 白发 老人 说 的话 ， 自动 垃圾处理 ， 这是 什么样 的 呢 ， 如果 真的 这样 ， 是 好 还是 不好 呢 。

再次 醒来 时 ，老刀 闻到 一 碟子 香味 ，老葛 已经 在 小 圆桌 上 摆 了 几 碟子 菜 ，还 正在 从 墙上 的 烤箱 中 把 剩下 一个 菜 端出来 。 老葛 又 拿来 半瓶 白酒 和 两个 玻璃杯 ，倒 上 。

“有 一桌 就 坐 了 俩 人 ，我 把 没 怎么 动过 的 菜 弄 了 点 回来 ，你 凑合 吃 ，别 嫌弃 就 行 。 他们 吃 了 一会儿 就 走 了 。 ”老葛 说 。

“哪儿 能 嫌弃 呢 。 ”老刀 说 ，“有 口吃 的 就 感激不尽 了 。 这么 好 的 菜 。 这些 菜 很 贵 吧 ？ ”“这儿 的 菜 不 对外 ，所以 都 不 标价 。 我 也 不 知道 多少钱 。 ”老葛 已经 开动 了 筷子 ，“也 就 一般 吧 。 估计 一两万 之间 ，个别 贵 一点 可能 三四万 。 就 那么 回事 。 ”老刀 吃 了 两口 就 真的 觉得 饿 了 。 他 有 抗 饥饿 的 办法 ，忍 上 一天 不 吃 东西 也 可以 ，身体 会 有些 颤抖 发飘 ，但 精神 不 受 影响 。 直到 这时 ，他 才 发觉 自己 的 饥饿 。 他 只 想 快点 咀嚼 ，牙齿 的 速度 赶不上 胃口 空虚 的 速度 。 吃 得 急 了 ，就 喝 一口 。 这 白酒 很 香 ，不 辣 。 老葛 慢悠悠 的 ，微笑 着 看着 他 。
