花木兰 是 中国 文学作品 中 的 一个 女英雄 。 她 女扮男装 、 替代 父亲 去 从军 的 故事 在 民间 广为流传 。 很多 艺术作品 中 都 有 她 的 形象 。 中学 课本 里 的 古诗 《 木兰 辞 》， 讲 的 就是 她 的 故事 。 除了 古诗 ， 不少 电视剧 和 电影 里 也 有 她 的 身影 。

木兰 被 外国 朋友 熟知 主要 是因为 迪斯尼公司 在 1998 年 拍摄 的 动画片 《Mulan》。 动画片 里 的 木兰 有 一头 黑色 的 长发 ， 个性 活泼 勇敢 。 她 的 爸爸妈妈 一 心想 给 她 找 一个 好 丈夫 ， 可惜 事情 进行 得 不 那么 顺利 。 之后 ， 北方 匈奴 入侵 ， 木兰 的 父亲 也 在 征兵 的 名单 上 。 担心 父亲 身体 不好 ， 她 决定 女扮男装 ， 替 父亲 上 战场 。 在 这个 过程 中 ， 木兰 遇到 了 很多 困难 ， 但是 一直 没有 放弃 ， 直到 最后 战争 胜利 。

动画片 在 原来 故事 的 基础 上 增加 了 很多 人物 和 细节 ， 使 它 变得 更好 看 。 迪斯尼公司 在 《Mulan》 大获 成功 之后 ， 于 2004 年 推出 了 《Mulan 2》， 但是 第二部 的 评价 不如 第一部 那么 好 。 2017 年 年底 ， 迪斯尼公司 宣布 计划 开拍 真人 电影 《 花木兰 》。 在 中国 家喻户晓 、 被 称为 “ 神仙姐姐 ” 的 演员 刘亦菲 将 成为 女主角 。
