从 2005 年 12 月 1 日 开始 ， 傅华根 先生 受到 美国国会 图书馆 、 国家 民俗 中心 、 马里兰大学 （College Park） 及 加州大学 的 邀请 ， 举办 了 两周 的 民乐 讲座 、 欣赏 与 表演 活动 。

“ 中国 杰出 的 民族 音乐家 ”、“ 著名 的 中国民俗 音乐家 和 二胡 演奏家 ”，《 美洲 时报 》、《 环球 新闻 》、《 新世界 》、《 华盛顿 新闻 》 等 10 多家 美国 主流 报纸 都 用 最美 的 语句 来 赞美 傅华根 先生 。

然而 ， 这 让 他 一夜 成名 的 二胡 和 古琴 ， 却 仅仅 是 华根 先生 的 业余爱好 。

但 就是 这样 一个 业余 爱好者 却 被 美国国会 图书馆 、 美国 亚洲 文化 学院 邀请 ， 在 美国国会 图书馆 表演 ， 他用 二胡 和 古琴 演奏 了 《 二泉 印月 》、《 良宵 》、《 梅花三弄 》 等 中国 传统 曲目 ， 好听 的 中国 民乐 ， 让 美国 人 为 之 倾倒 ， 听惯 了 钢琴 、 交响乐 的 西方人 ， 面对 中国 民乐 就 像是 呼吸 到 了 清新 的 空气 。

这些 美国 朋友 里 ， 有 17 位 特殊 的 观众 ， 他们 是 美国 的 外交官 。

之所以 美国政府 让 外交官 听 一场 非官方 的 音乐 欣赏 会 ， 是因为 今年 这些 外交官 们 将 去 中国 的 北京 、 上海 、 广州 和 香港 ， 从事 外交 工作 。

他们 把 欣赏 华根 先生 的 音乐 ， 作为 对 东方 的 一种 直观 的 认识 。 音乐会 结束 之后 ， 外交官 们 把 华根 先生 团团围住 ， 不断 地 询问 着 中国 的 民族音乐 及 中国 人 对 音乐 的 理解 ， 演出 获得 了 巨大 的 成功 。
