阿加 同 小玲 好 鍾意 揾 多多 玩 。 Aga and Rei are happy to get Toto to play with them. 多多 係 一 隻 看管 森林 嘅 牧羊犬 ， 佢 每 次 見到 阿加 同 小玲 ， 都 會 帶 佢哋 四圍 睇 下 。 Toto is a sheepdog who looks after the forest, and whenever he sees Aga and Siu Ling, he will show them around.

多多 帶 佢哋 去 到 一 棵 樹 下面 ， 叫 佢哋 摘 啲 生果 拎 返 屋企 食 。 小玲 趷高 腳 、 舉起 手 就 摘 到 樹 上面 纍纍 嘅 果實 。 Siu Ling jolted her feet and raised her hands to pick statues of fruits from the tree. 阿加 就 隨手 執起 熟 到 跌 咗 落 地 嘅 果實 ， 好 心急 噉 咬 咗 一 啖 —— So Aga picked up the ripe fruit, which had fallen to the ground, and took a bite out of it with great eagerness--

「 咳咳 …… 」 阿加 濁親 ， 然後 𦧲 咗 粒 嘢 出嚟 。 佢 流 晒 眼水 噉 話 ： 「 呢 粒 咩 嚟 㗎 ？ Her eyes are watering and she says, "What is this? 爭啲 哽 死 我 啦 ！ 」

多多 走嚟 望 下 阿加 手上 嗰 粒 嘢 ， 就 話 ： 「 呢 粒 係 核 呀 。 」

小玲 問 ： 「 核 係 咩 嚟 㗎 ？ 食 唔 食 得 㗎 ？ 」

多多 話 ： 「 個個 果實 都 有 核 㗎 。 你哋 平時 食 嘅 生果 ， 入面 都 會 有 核 ， 有啲 食 得 ， 有啲 唔 食得 。 」

「 好似 香蕉 噉 ， 佢 啲 核 本身 就 細細 粒 又 唔 硬 ， 收埋 喺 香蕉 軟腍腍 嘅 肉 入面 ， 人 食 咗 都 唔 知 。 "Like a banana, the core is small and not hard, so it is buried in the soft flesh of the banana, which one would not even know that it has been eaten.

多多 話 ： 「 核 即係 植物 用嚟 繁殖 嘅 種子 。 The kernel is the seed used by plants to reproduce," Toto said. 如果 植物 結果 嘅 時候 ， 入面 冇 種子 俾 佢 散播 去 第二啲 地方 ， 植物 就 唔會 有 重生 嘅 機會 。 If there are no seeds in the ground for the plant to spread to other places when it fructifies, the plant will not have a chance to regenerate. 而家 佢哋 有 核 可以 散播 開去 ， 加埋 足夠 嘅 養份 ， 例如 泥土 、 空氣 、 水 同 陽光 ， 佢哋 就 可以 再次 發芽 生長 。 If they have a nucleus that can be dispersed with enough nutrients, such as soil, air, water and sunlight, they will be able to germinate and grow again.

「 就 好似 你哋 手上 嘅 生果 ， 啲 核 我哋 食 完 就 掉 落 地 。 "Just like the fruits in your hands, the kernels will fall to the ground when we finish them. 然後 佢 會 喺 特定 嘅 環境 下 長苗 、 開 好 靚 嘅 花 ， 再 變成 果樹 ； 到 特定 季節 就 會 結出 果實 ， 吸引 人 、 動物 或者 昆蟲 去 食 。 It will then grow seedlings, produce beautiful flowers and turn into a fruit tree in a particular environment. In a particular season, it will produce fruits that will attract people, animals or insects to eat them.

「 只要 有 一 粒 核 ， 幾 細粒 都 可以 長成 大樹 。 "As long as there is a kernel, a few grains can grow into a big tree. 喺 你哋 面前 嘅 呢 棵 樹 ， 本身 都 係 埋 喺 地下 嘅 一 粒 小 種子 ， 慢慢 至 變 到 依家 咁 大 棵 。 唔好 睇小 食 生果 呢個 動作 —— 啲 樹 可以 生 到 咁 大 棵 ， 都 係 靠 我哋 咋 ！ Don't look at the action of eating fruits - it is up to us to make the trees grow to such a large size! 」
