Propheten im Judentum
Prophets in Judaism
As in Islam, prophets play an important role in Judaism as well
In our traditions, prophets are people with distinct personal qualities
It allows them to communicate with God
The Israelite prophets performed various functions that are described in our holy book
Some of them served as political leaders in missions set by God
Like Moses who led the children of Israel out of Egypt
Or Devora, who led them in a battle against the army of Sisera the Canaanite
While some prophets predicted the future, such as Isaiah and Jeremiah
Those who expected the destruction of Jerusalem
The Jewish Bible contains many inspiring characters
The Jewish Bible contains many inspiring personalities
For example, Adam, the first human on earth, is not considered a prophet
And Lot is not considered a prophet either
We consider Moses the greatest of the prophets of the Children of Israel
Since he spoke to God directly
As he spoke to God directly
According to our beliefs, the prophecy of the Jewish people ended
With the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem
But Judaism recognizes non-Jewish prophets, such as Balaam ben Baura
However, Judaism recognizes prophets of non-Jews, such as Balaam ibn Ba'ura
And prophets who were sent to other peoples, such as Prophet Yunus
Therefore, some of the prophets of the Children of Israel were subjected to verbal and physical attacks
from their angry audience
The Prophet Zechariah ibn Jehoiada, stoned to death on the orders of Joash, king of Judea
The prophet Zechariah ibn Yehweda, was stoned to death on the orders of Joash, king of Judah
Christianity and Islam described Jews as hostile
Rather, they killed the prophets he sent to them
They even killed the prophets he sent to them
And on top of them Jesus of Nazareth
Millions of Jews throughout history were killed as a result of this generalization
Prophets may make mistakes and even sins
Prophets may make mistakes and even sins
Their greatness, in our opinion,
It stems from their ability to openly admit their mistakes and repent
To set an example for us all
which we read in the synagogue every Saturday. One of them, in the book of Isaiah, deals with future peace by saying:
“Nation shall not raise a sword against another nation, nor shall they learn war anymore.”
