Psalmus 113 Psalm 113

1 Alleluja. In exitu Israël de Ægypto, domus Jacob de populo barbaro, 2 facta est Judæa sanctificatio ejus ; Israël potestas ejus. In the exodus of Israel from Egypt, the house of Jacob from the barbarian people, 2 Judea became its sanctification; Israel is his power. 3 Mare vidit, et fugit ; Jordanis conversus est retrorsum. 3 He saw the sea and fled; Jordan turned back. 4 Montes exsultaverunt ut arietes, et colles sicut agni ovium. 4 The mountains rejoiced like rams, and the hills like lambs. 5 Quid est tibi, mare, quod fugisti ? 5 What is the matter with you, sea, that you fled? et tu, Jordanis, quia conversus es retrorsum ? and you, Jordan, why have you turned back? 6 montes, exsultastis sicut arietes ? 6 mountains, did you rejoice like rams? et colles, sicut agni ovium ? 7 A facie Domini mota est terra, a facie Dei Jacob : 8 qui convertit petram in stagna aquarum, et rupem in fontes aquarum. 7 The earth was moved from the face of the Lord, Jacob from the face of God: 8 who turned the rock into pools of water, and the rock into springs of water. 9 Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam : 10 super misericordia tua et veritate tua ; nequando dicant gentes : Ubi est Deus eorum ? 9 Not to us, Lord, not to us, but give glory to your name: 10 on your mercy and your truth; let the nations never say: Where is their God? 11 Deus autem noster in cælo ; omnia quæcumque voluit fecit. 11 But our God is in heaven; He did everything he wanted. 12 Simulacra gentium argentum et aurum, opera manuum hominum. 12 The likenesses of the nations of silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 13 Os habent, et non loquentur ; oculos habent, et non videbunt. 13 They have mouths, and will not speak; they have eyes, and they will not see. 14 Aures habent, et non audient ; nares habent, et non odorabunt. 15 Manus habent, et non palpabunt ; pedes habent, et non ambulabunt ; non clamabunt in gutture suo. 15 They have hands, and will not feel; they have feet, and will not walk; they will not cry out in their throats. 16 Similes illis fiant qui faciunt ea, et omnes qui confidunt in eis. 16 Let those who do them become like them, and all who trust in them. 17 Domus Israël speravit in Domino ; adjutor eorum et protector eorum est. 17 The house of Israel hoped in the Lord; He is their helper and their protector. 18 Domus Aaron speravit in Domino ; adjutor eorum et protector eorum est. 19 Qui timent Dominum speraverunt in Domino ; adjutor eorum et protector eorum est. 19 Those who fear the Lord have hoped in the Lord; He is their helper and their protector. 20 Dominus memor fuit nostri, et benedixit nobis. 20 The Lord was mindful of us, and blessed us. Benedixit domui Israël ; benedixit domui Aaron. He blessed the house of Israel; He blessed the house of Aaron. 21 Benedixit omnibus qui timent Dominum, pusillis cum majoribus. 21 He blessed all who fear the Lord, both the small and the great. 22 Adjiciat Dominus super vos, super vos et super filios vestros. 22 May the Lord bless you, you and your children. 23 Benedicti vos a Domino, qui fecit cælum et terram. 23 May you be blessed by the Lord who made heaven and earth. 24 Cælum cæli Domino ; terram autem dedit filiis hominum. 24 Heaven to the Lord of heaven; and he gave the land to the sons of men. 25 Non mortui laudabunt te, Domine, neque omnes qui descendunt in infernum : 26 sed nos qui vivimus, benedicimus Domino, ex hoc nunc et usque in sæculum. 25 The dead will not praise you, Lord, nor all who go down to hell: 26 but we who live, we bless the Lord, from now on and forever.
