Psalmus 111 Psalm 111

1 Alleluja, reversionis Aggæi et Zachariæ. Beatus vir qui timet Dominum : in mandatis ejus volet nimis. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord: he wills exceedingly in his commandments. 2 Potens in terra erit semen ejus ; generatio rectorum benedicetur. 2 His seed shall be mighty in the earth; the generation of rulers will be blessed. 3 Gloria et divitiæ in domo ejus, et justitia ejus manet in sæculum sæculi. 3 Glory and wealth are in his house, and his righteousness remains forever and ever. 4 Exortum est in tenebris lumen rectis : misericors, et miserator, et justus. 4 The light of the righteous has arisen in the darkness: the merciful, the pitiful, and the just. 5 Jucundus homo qui miseretur et commodat ; disponet sermones suos in judicio : 6 quia in æternum non commovebitur. 5 A pleasant man who takes pity and lends; He will arrange his words in judgment: 6 because he will not be moved forever. 7 In memoria æterna erit justus ; ab auditione mala non timebit. 7 The righteous will be in eternal memory; He will not be afraid of hearing bad things. Paratum cor ejus sperare in Domino, 8 confirmatum est cor ejus ; non commovebitur donec despiciat inimicos suos. His heart was ready to hope in the Lord, 8 his heart was strengthened; he will not be moved until he despises his enemies. 9 Dispersit, dedit pauperibus ; justitia ejus manet in sæculum sæculi : cornu ejus exaltabitur in gloria. 9 He scattered, gave to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever and ever: his horn shall be exalted in glory. 10 Peccator videbit, et irascetur ; dentibus suis fremet et tabescet : desiderium peccatorum peribit. 10 The sinner will see, and be filled with wrath; he gnashes with his teeth and melts: the desire of sinners will perish.
