The Sleeping Spell
This story is by Charles Perrault.
It is a story about a bad fairy and her magic spell.
The King is happy because he has a new baby girl.
Everybody comes to the castle to see the girl.
One fairy does not come.
No one asks her.
She is angry.
The Bad Fairy says, "The girl will cut her finger on a needle and die."
The Good Fairy doesn't like the Bad Fairy's spell.
"I cannot stop the spell, but the girl will not die. She will sleep for 100 years."
The King says, "I want no needles in my country."
Everybody puts their needles away so the Princess cannot find them.
One day, when she is 15 years old, the Princess goes walking in the castle.
There she finds a spinning wheel.
She cuts her finger and falls asleep.
The spell works.
The King and Queen find her and put the Princess in a room to sleep for 100 years.
As time goes by, people forget about the Princess.
One day, 100 years later, a prince goes by the castle.
"What is this place?" he asks his men.
"People say a beautiful princess is sleeping in the castle for 100 years," says a man.
"And only a prince's kiss can wake her."
The Prince cuts the trees to get to the castle.
He sees the Princess sleeping and falls in love.
The Prince kisses Sleeping Beauty.
She wakes up and falls in love, too.
The next day, they marry and live happily ever after.
