Josh Takes Hauling Moonshine to the Next Level | Moonshiners | Discovery - YouTube

This is how we make the moonshine.

What the. How are we going, man?

John, What? Have you been hauling liquor for a long time now, And I think it's about time

we swapped some vehicles we've been running moonshine on.

Josh and I have been looking for a new vehicle to haul some moonshine in.

And I saw one one time been trying to buy it for a while.

I always go moonshiners.

They used to swap vehicles all the time.

You know, Barney, I got my start from Barney and I was only 16, 17 year old kid running

around with moonshine. And his dad was a legendary moonshiner and he had about 40 or

50 cars parked around his house.

He rotate vehicles constantly.

Well, that's what we need to do.

What is it? It's an old Chevy truck.

And I know you know about motors.

I do know a little something about vehicles.

Well, that's why I've got you with me.

Josh, I want to check the motor out.

Everything. We got to be able to outrun the law on it.

But one thing I have done is outrun them in my car.

Blue light. Hell, no.

If we don't hurry up.

They really caught me damn near every time I've ever ran on foot.

Pilgrim. Stop, please.

Stop. Please. Oh.

Where's your partner going?

Honestly, I think this day and time it's more about fitting in and being incognito.

Well, that's the beauty of this truck I'm looking at, Josh, It's an old truck.

Just blends right in.

How'd you come across this damn vehicle anyway?

It belongs to a retired sheriff's deputy.

You know, Josh, I spent a little time up here in Culpeper County Jail.

You know, we're buying a bootlegging vehicle from a sheriff's deputy.

I'm not going to tell him I'm hauling liquor in it.

But this is a good fella.

And I actually ate Thanksgiving dinner at his house.

And that's the first time I ever saw this truck.

You got to be the luckiest son of a bitch I've ever met in my life.

How do you do it?

Well, Josh, you falling apart, You come out smelling like a damn rose.

I don't know about that, Josh.

It might look like I'm lucky a lot of times, but.

And it's got some rust in it.

The tires are pretty much wore out on it.

It's still a nice vehicle, but you.

Got to look at all the pretty stuff on it.

I mean, she's got good chrome, she got good wheels.

I mean, most everything on this thing is original.

When I'm looking at Richie is it's just a touch out of my price range.

I understand. I understand.

I'm not forcing it on you.

Either you say yes or you say no.

It's totally up to you.

I don't think so. Tickle?

Well, it's looking like we ain't going to make a deal.

Well, I mean, it is what it is.

This is a good truck, don't get me wrong.

But the guys just wanting too much money for it.

All right, man. All right.

Man. You have a good one. Yes, sir.

You never want to have too much money in a vehicle that you know that you're going to

have to throw away.

What's that, Josh? Ask him what's under that shed over there.

Josh wants to know what's under the shed over there.

It's an old vehicle of my father's that we've had for a long time.

You're more than welcome to look at it, if you like.

What is it?

I don't know. I think it's an old van or something.

I don't know exactly what it is.

Okay. A van. You know, a van might just work.

Josh? Well, if this thing's under a tarp and covered up with leaves and stuff, it tells me

he don't care about it. We're going to have to get our eyes on this thing and see if

maybe we can make a deal on this damn mini van.

A mini van?

It might suit our purposes just fine.

She's missing a wheel.

If the wheels off of it, we probably got it around here somewhere.

It runs or what?

I don't know much about this vehicle, fellas.

I think there's keys in it.

All right, well, let's see what we got here.

Josh, now me, myself.

I'm looking for something inconspicuous.

This thing is a mini van.

Here's your keys.

This battery was put in at 421, so it ain't old at all.

A bunch of wires coming off of it.

I got nothing. She's dead as a hammer in here.

Like something right here. Josh, what is that?

Let me see. Hold on. All the wires run right to it.

That's a battery disconnect.

There's got to be a key for it somewhere.

Well, let me see. Here's your remote controls reception.

That's the TV right there.

Look. Shoot.

You drive, and I watch TV.

That's gotta be a key in here somewhere.

Well, hang on. Let me look.

It's just some paperwork.

You know, the inspection sticker?

Hey, that's it.

Is that it? Hey, we got power.

Drink, chat. Right size running off of roof.

See if a plug wire. This is definitely not the kind of vehicle you'd be hauling

moonshine in. So it's kind of a good thing in a way, because it's not what you'd be

expecting. That's what you'd call a sleeper.

Oh, I don't know what he did, but he just smoothed right out.

What do you think, John? What's the price tag on this baby?

500.

500? That's right.

Where we need to be at.

What do you think, man? It's kind of like a soccer mom vehicle.

This thing is incognito, man.

I had the most incognito vehicle ever.

What does it say? Can of spraying water.

Can, can, can out.

Oh. It didn't say of it said Al said canal pure spraying water on the side and it was a

water truck. It's pretty good when when they pulled the back door up it looked just like

water. Right. Freaking out all over the place here.

I'm excited, man. We're about to make some serious dust.

Look, you didn't had to spring water truck.

What do you think about soccer Mom in it?

Oh, man. This it? Work wherever you want to do.

Hey, look, That's in our price range, Richie.

It sounds good. Let's find us a tire or something.

What size tires we got on this thing?

15.

Oh, then we keep stuff in here.

You're more than welcome to look.

Oh, God. What do we got here?

It's four tires.

No, there's eight bolt pattern rim right yonder.

Hey, look. That's it right there.

Yeah. That. That rim matches and everything.

I think this minivan is going to work for us.

It's going to need a little bit of work to it.

Now, we just got to figure out exactly how we're going to conceal this moonshine.

But the one good thing is we've got plenty of room to do it.

Here's the lug nuts right here.

Here. You want me to do that? I got the right amount of fingers.

All right. Take a one time.

I running in a dirt race.

I heard a loud boom.

I knew my tire exploded right then.

Oh, wow.

He was on the last lap.

Didn't have no choice but to keep getting it.

Ha. But I still got third with a three legged car.

Think of what you could have done if you only had one wheel left.

I'd have been the one wheeled wonder.

Damn right. You the one with one wheel.

All right. Looks like we got a wheel on this thing now that we got this van.

The real work begins.

That's 500 right yonder, boss.

You have a good one.

Appreciate it. How the hell are we actually going to hide any moonshine in this thing?

And how the hell are we going to soup up a minivan?

Hey, Josh, you'll drop that hood?

I got a buddy who's got a shop.

He'll let us work on this thing there.

All right. All right. Just take my truck and follow me.

Sounds good.
