The Michael Shermer Show, 294. Sabine Hossenfelder — Existential Physics (8)

294. Sabine Hossenfelder — Existential Physics (8)

2 (1h 24m 23s):

So I think this really, isn't a question for science to answer, like, what's the purpose of anything, but at the end of the book, I kind of offer my personal idea about what the purposes, at least of my life. I think in the end, it's something that everyone has to find for themselves. Like what's the purpose of their life. What's the meaning of their life. And the conclusion that I pretty much come to is that I think at least for me, the purpose of my life is passing on knowledge to other people. It makes sense to me.

2 (1h 25m 2s):

And so I'm happy with this. It gives a meaning to my life.

1 (1h 25m 8s):

That's a great answer that, and that's a good meaning. That's a good, that's a good thing. And you do it very well. Your books are great and your YouTube channel is great. And of course you do a lot of professional physics. All right. So what are you working on next? Both professionally and in terms of your public teaching?

2 (1h 25m 27s):

Yeah. I've, I've written a lot of grant applications recently. It's this time of the year when the deadlines come up. And so it, unfortunately it takes up a lot of time. I do some, some research on a dark matter. I work on the foundations of quantum mechanics just had a paper accepted for publication. Yeah. I'm doing a lot of podcasts as of recently. Yeah. Working on working on a new video about, I'm happy to see you're sitting about cold fusion. So that be interesting. So lots of interesting things coming up.

1 (1h 26m 8s):

Yeah. That sounds great. Well, thank you for your work. Thanks for coming on the show to talk and take the time. I know you're busy and you've got a lot of book media interviews set up. So we, I really appreciate the time.
