#43: 老王 和 小王

“ 王 ” 是 中国 最大 的 姓氏 之一 ， 有 将近 一亿人 姓王 。 姓王 的 人 这么 多 ， 但是 他们 可能 都 被 叫做 老王 或者 小王 。 对于 其他 的 姓氏 也 是 这样 。 用 “ 老 ” 和 “ 小 ” 称呼 一个 人 ， 是 我 今天 的 主题 。

因为 要 讨论 年龄 ， 先教 大家 几个 常用 的 词 ： 同辈 、 晚辈 和 长辈 。 同辈 就是 同 一代人 ， 或者 年龄 差不多 的 人 ， 晚辈 是 更 年轻 的 一代人 ， 或者 年龄 比较 小 的 人 ； 长辈 则 相反 。 现在 我们 回到 老王 和 小王 这个 话题 。 大部分 姓王 的 人 ， 年轻 的 时候 被 人 叫做 小王 ； 等 他 老 了 ， 就 被 人 叫做 老王 。 这种 称呼 既 简单 又 亲切 。 不过 要 注意 的 是 ， 这种 称呼 不是 非常 正式 ， 所以 可能 不是 很 礼貌 。 同辈 或者 长辈 可以 称呼 姓王 的 人 “ 小王 ”； 而 同辈 或者 晚辈 可以 称呼 他 “ 老王 ”。 小王 和 老王 之间 没有 一个 确定 的 区分 点 。 有些 人 比较 年轻 ， 但是 看上去 比较 老 ， 或者 经验丰富 ， 也 可能 被 叫做 老王 。

有趣 的 是 ， 小王 可以 是 男 的 也 可以 是 女 的 ， 但是 我 发现 ， 老王 一般 只是 男 的 。 在 一个 公司 里面 ， 如果 员工 姓王 ， 经理 可以 叫 他 小王 或者 老王 ； 但是 如果 经理 姓王 ， 他 的 员工 就 不能 这样 称呼 他 ， 因为 这样 不礼貌 。 我姓 翁 ， 有 一些 朋友 叫 我 老翁 ， 同时 另 一些 朋友 叫 我 小翁 。 我 不 知道 为什么 ， 但是 我 感觉 自己 在 那些 叫 我 “ 老翁 ” 的 朋友 面前 更加 自信 。
