Capitolo 32
They play tricks on him all the time: one takes his hat, one pulls his jacket, one tries to draw two big mustaches under his nose with ink, one tries to tie wires to his feet and hands to make him dance.
− Attenti, ragazzi!
- Watch out, guys!
I respect others and want to be respected.
− Bravo!
Hai parlato come un libro stampato!
Gesprochen wie ein Buch!
You spoke like a printed book!
But he is not in time: for Pinocchio kicks him in the leg.
− Ohi!
- shouts the boy, touching the bruise the puppet gave him.
− E che gomiti!
- Und was für Ellbogen!
- And what elbows!
Anche più duri dei piedi!
Noch härter als Füße!
Even harder than feet!
After that kick and elbow, Pinocchio immediately gains the esteem and sympathy of all the boys in the school.
Everyone caresses him a thousand times and loves him dearly.
And the teacher is happy, too, because he sees him attentive, studious, intelligent, always the first to enter the school, and always the last to stand up when class is over.
His only flaw is perhaps that he hangs out with too many classmates: and among them are many brats who are well known for their unwillingness to study.
− Attento, Pinocchio!
- Watch out, Pinocchio!
Those bad classmates of yours will make you lose your love for studying and, perhaps perhaps, bring you bad luck and something bad will happen to you.
− Non c'è pericolo!
- Es besteht keine Gefahr!
- There is no danger!
− So come comportarmi.
- Ich weiß, was zu tun ist.
- You know the big news?
− No.
− Io no: voglio andare a scuola.
− La scuola non è importante!
A scuola ci andiamo domani.
With one more lesson or one less we remain the same dunce.
− E il maestro?
- What about the teacher?
He is paid to grumble all day long.
- Moms never know anything,‖ those brats reply.
− Sapete che faccio?
- You know what I do?
− dice Pinocchio.
− Povero stupido!
− risponde uno del gruppo.
- One of the group responds.
- Do you think such a big fish would be expected?
As soon as he gets bored, he goes somewhere else.
− In un'ora siamo andati e tornati.
- Within an hour we were there and back.
− Dunque, via!
- So go!
And the one who runs the fastest is the best!
− grida Pinocchio.
- schreit Pinocchio.
Pinocchio è sempre avanti a tutti, veloce come una lepre.
He occasionally looks back and teases his companions, who are slower and have fallen far behind.
The poor puppet does not know what fears and horrible misfortunes await him!
