Coming to Scotland - A story by a new Scot

I lived in Jordan for 7 years. It wasn't very good living in Jordan. I had no job and no money and every day I was tired with backache and I had no money to buy a house. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) phoned me. The IOM spoke Arabic. They said, ‘Hello how are you, do you and your family want to go to the UK?' I said ‘Yes, why not?!'. In ten days' time I had an IOM appointment in the morning with my family to get ID. The IOM meeting was face-to-face in Jordan with my family. The next appointment was in the hospital for a blood test and a chest X-ray. I was happy to come to Scotland. In Scotland in my town, everybody is happy and has a friendly face. This is very good. My neighbours and street are nice. One thing in Scotland is no good; it is cold and raining every day!
