The Running Channel, Christmas Presents For Runners 2021

Christmas Presents For Runners 2021

it's almost time for Christmas, and that means everyone started to think about Christmas brothers

starting.

Yeah, I sent off my list to the North Pole weeks ago, definitely on the good list

this year.

Yeah, if you say so big.

But if, like Rick Christmas is at the front of your mind, stay tuned.

Because in this video, we're going to go through our top picks to give the runner in

your life or at your own wish list this Christmas.

I am so excited.

Yes, and this year we've teamed up again with Wiggle to run through our favourite running

stuff from a whole host of different brands to put on your Christmas list and

wiggle, have even given the running channel audience an exclusive discount

to save some pennies to check the link in the description for more.

In fact, we have got everything that you can think of, from tech to gear

shoes and some gorgeous little gift a bit.

So settle in, grab yourself a cupper and stay tuned for some serious festive

inspiration.

But before we get stuck in, please do hit, subscribe and tap the bell icon to

get notified, and we released new videos.

We've got some incredible stuff.

Plan for 2022 that you will not want to miss.

So tap the bell, quick.

And now let's dive in to the presence.

First up.

We're going to take a look at some of the tech that we think you should have your eye on for this Christmas.

Rick, you're up first.

Shall we first pop on our head?

Get Oh, good idea.

Cheers.

Yeah, right.

We'll start off with the Garmin Forerunner 55.

Watch.

This is a pretty sleek entry level effort from Garment.

I love the face, the features and the basic, the simplicity of

the design on it.

The other thing I love about this, this watch as well is I've been able to test how long

it's battery life actually is.

The claim is that it lasts for 14 days.

I got 12 to 13 days out of it.

That's very good going.

Yes, because of course, you're not running at the moment exactly.

Not using the GPS mode.

So I was actually.

So I do have the time on my hands to actually do this type of stuff, as I'm not sad.

Of course, if you're using the GPS made.

It suggests that it can get about 20 hours time out of it.

But sleek, simple design.

I'm a big fan.

Yeah, that's the one that Sarah used when she got the suggested workouts as our Oh, yeah.

And in fact, the pace pro feature as well.

So you can Yes, Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah, of course.

It's got multi sport activities.

So if you're not running, if you want to use it for cycling or whatever else you can, you can swimming as

well.

You can use it for loads of stuff.

So, yes, sleep design.

Simple nice little entry level.

A watch from Garmin.

Right Then in my sack, another watch.

And this is the polar grit X.

So this is one that we actually did a full review on the channels to do.

Check out the full video if you want more details about it.

But what I can say about this watch is it's a very rugged one.

So it's a bit of a step up from what we've just seen there.

Um, so this one you've got 40 hours battery life in GPS mode,

seven days in non GPS made.

The other thing about the polar Grit X is that the navigation

functions on this is excellent.

So it's got turn by turn directions, and that's actually powered by an app called commute.

Um, so it gives you really good navigation or tell you to turn

left?

Yeah, Also speaking about ultra marathons as well.

So if you are looking at getting into sort of more kind of extreme

running activities, this has a feature called fuel wise on it as well, So it will tell you when to eat and

drink.

So if you're going in through aid stations, we're going on a long run.

You need a reminder to make sure that you eat and drink.

There's over 130 different sport profiles on this watch as well.

So can you even list 100 and 30 sports?

Uh oh.

Horse riding, diving, swimming, uh,

cockfighting.

We'll just call it that.

Next up is the Caracas pace to watch.

So this is the entry level course watch.

So I think it comes in around about £180.

Best thing about this thing, it's incredibly like

29 grammes.

So it is light as a feather on your wrist.

It's also got some nice little features as well.

It's got this nighttime mode, so if you are running out in the dark, it's not kind of

like bright.

Look at me.

I'm a Christmas tree, but it is light enough

to, you know, so you can see your staff.

Yes, you can see your stats.

And that's really good feature and ignite your energy.

Yeah, yeah.

There was a review on this.

I think Andy tried this one out, didn't he?

Yeah, and it's got the track running feature on it, too.

So accurately tracks you around the track because sometimes GPS can go haywire on a

track.

It's also got this nifty little feature on the digital dial, which is a one finger operation

you can just you could use your finger to on this little tiny Thank

you.

Yeah, to move around.

Very good.

Pretty nifty.

Also, in tech, we have the Paraguayan mini, so this is a

recovery tool.

It's what they call percussive recovery.

So the balls of goes in and out, and you can really get a

concussive recovery.

Uh, yeah, with this one, it's the mini version, so it's great for travelling.

So if you are, maybe I don't know.

Going to run a marathon abroad.

Pack in your suitcase.

In the soft carry case, it's an ergonomic design, which means that it's super

comfy for your hand to fit around so that you can get into all the nooks and crannies, like if you

want to during his shoulders, or get into your calves, get into your quads.

Yeah, it's 150 hours battery life on it, you're gonna

say 150 brake horsepower.

So how powerful is this?

I don't know much about horsepower, but that sounds like quite a lot punchy punching.

This is quite punchy and funny.

You should mention that Rick does have three different speed settings for you.

So depending on how much of a beating you want to give your legs.

But yeah, it's a bit like having like a massage therapist or a physio in your pocket.

You just told me you can hear my stomach rumbling.

Yeah, I really can.

It's quite out.

Yeah, I'm starting to feel a little bit package, And what better?

And on Christmas morning, then, to open some snacks, a little bit of snack Ege.

Not to worry.

Then I've got you covered because here we have the

grenade.

Carb killer bars, My gosh.

High in protein, low in carbs.

This is a 12 bar selection box Also.

They're very low, you know.

They are huge, right?

You see the size of the actual bars.

They're low in sugar as well.

These are delicious if you haven't had them.

This one is a personal favorite birthday cake flavour.

Really?

Oh, yeah.

So these are also really great for any time of day.

Really?

You can do them pre workout, post workout or just anytime that you want to snap during the day.

But yeah, if you want to get protein hit after you've done a hard session, then you've got all sorts

of different flavours to choose from the salted peanuts, dark chocolate and raspberry peanut

nutter.

Uh, they're mostly nuts.

You do have enough allergy.

Don't do drop that one white chocolate cookie.

That was all right.

Yeah.

Yeah.

God, I love the colours, actually, yeah, the proper in your face, who they

really are Next out of the sack is the high five slow release energy

pack.

I can tell you they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Excellent.

That's what you want.

A little bit of a mix in here to gels.

Two bars, two drinks.

You've tried these?

Yes, I have the apricot bars.

They are tasty.

No, really, really nice.

Like I'm not very good at having breakfast pre race because you're really nervous.

So actually, I tend to stick to just having a bar.

So something like the slow release bar You're getting the slow release carbohydrates on route to your

race.

So ideal for endurance events.

Ideal for endurance events, Indeed.

And you've got a nice little selection of all kinds of different bits in there.

This is actually a taster pack of the slow release range.

So if you're not quite sure what you want with your mix of different flavours and

gels, bars and drinks, then you can basically get this and figure out what you like.

Nice little bit of everything.

Yeah.

Shoot.

Yeah.

What Runner doesn't want to get a pair of shoes under the tree?

And first up, we have got the new balance.

Fresh foam.

10, 80.

The 11.

Oh, these bad boys.

So these were what we featured in our best shoes.

They were the best new update to an existing models.

So new balance have done their fresh phone 10 eighties for a long time now.

So these feature the new balance fresh foam in the mid sole, which makes them

super comfy.

They've got quite a lot cushioning in them, but they're, you know, they're pretty good all round shoes.

You can do any kind of running them.

Really?

So the design of these you can see in the hell colour comes up quite high, and it really hugs your foot

in super nicely with these.

So yeah, a lovely, comfy pair of new balance.

Fresh foam 10 80 v 11.

Have you got big racing plans for 2020 two?

If you do, you might want some of these compression types.

Good plan.

Yeah.

So these are the women's compression types, but they also you can also get obviously

men's ones.

These are really useful if you've got some injuries.

So abductors, quads.

Kaffes.

I know you wore I think a pair didn't use in Berlin.

You were repaired.

Yeah, that's right.

Yeah, because I went out with my injury to Berlin Marathon So the physio recommended doing some

compression on the flights.

The two times you ones are super compression.

Did you like them to get a lot of?

Yeah, absolutely.

But I really like this update.

It's got pockets.

Pockets.

Right.

So next up, we have a jacket from Gaul.

Yes, I know what this is.

Very, very nice.

Very, very nice.

So weighing only 160 grammes, by the way, if you highlight what that is I mean, the

tags way more than the jacket does.

Oh, my gosh.

Huh?

That is Where's the jacket?

Yeah.

So this is windproof waterproof.

What I also like about it is that it doesn't have a hood.

Because actually, when it's raining and I've got jacket on for running, very rarely do I

actually wear the hood itself.

Really?

Yeah.

The front zips up, obviously as you would expect.

And also just to protect your little chin as well.

It's got what they like to call a zip garage

garage.

What does that mean?

Well, so, basically, at the front here, it's nice and

soft and keeps your keeps your zip tucked in zip.

Gary.

Yeah.

So it's where you park your zip.

It's got reflective detailing on the back and also down the front zipped as well.

So that's good for running in low light and easy on the logo.

Here, you've got two side zip pockets.
