Story 5. The Sky is Falling
Chicken was resting under a tree, when a nut fell and hit her on the head.
She jumped up and yelled, The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
She started to run.
I must tell the king, she cried.
There is surely danger here.
On the way, Chicken met Duck.
The sky is falling, she cried.
How do you know? asked Duck.
I saw it.
A piece of it hit me on the head.
And so the two set off to warn the king.
They met Rabbit and Turtle on the way.
Chicken cried, The sky is falling!
She said that she had seen it with her own eyes.
Rabbit and Turtle were scared too, so they joined the race to warn the king.
Then Fox showed up.
What is the matter? he asked.
When he heard the answer, he smiled and said, You will never find the king unless I show you the way.
Follow me.
The animals followed Fox into his home.
All of a sudden, he locked the door and ate them all up.
