English Convos with Camille (Interview with Melodie), PART 1.1 Melodie

PART 1.1 Melodie

Camille: Oi, welcome back to my English course, I am thrilled to be here with my sister-in-law Melodie. She is an entrepreneur, wife, mother, world traveler and she said yes to doing this video here with me today. Thank you, Melodie.

Melodie: You're very welcome.

Camille: Yeah, I think you guys are really going to enjoy it because Melodie is an amazing person, she's done so many cool things in her life and she's an inspiration to me. So I think it will be a lot of fun today.

Melodie: Oh, gosh.

Camille: Yes, so let's go way back, Melo, she gets called Melo too, right?

Melodie: Yep.

Camille: Yes, nickname. So, when were you born?

Melodie: June 30th, 1979.

Camille: Where?

Melodie: Vancouver, Washington.

Camille: Okay, and how many siblings do you have?

Melodie: I have 4 siblings, two brothers, and two sisters.

Camille: And where are you in the mix? Melodie: Right in the middle.

Camille: Just like me. Middle children.

Melodie: My husband is a middle child of 14 so…

Camille: Wow, so you have a huge family.

Melodie: Yes.

Camille: And then you have how many kids of your own?

Melodie: Three kids.

Camille: And what are their names? And how old are they?

Melodie: My oldest is Jude, and he's just turned 18, so he's about ready to leave the house, and then I have a 14-year-old son named Noah, and then a daughter, Violet, 10.

Camille: Wow. That's amazing. And so how long did you live in Washington?

Melodie: I lived in Washington until I was 18, I moved to South Carolina to go to college.

Camille: Okay. Yeah. And what would be some of your most vivid childhood memories, growing up in Washington?

Camille: Well, we had a lot of like forest and field around us so there's like a lot of land, so I think playing outside, and just using our imagination. We had horses at one point, we had llamas at one point, so we just kind of had adventures, all the time and it was a really good childhood, and I enjoyed it. Your husband is my brother, so he probably remembers. Camille: Yes. We can ask him about it later.

Did you know how to ride horses then?

Melodie: So I actually took lessons with my younger sister, and it was, I think it's such a good thing for young girls, to know how to ride horses, it keeps them away from the boys longer.

Camille: Is that your strategy with your daughter, because I know she's been learning. Melodie: My daughter has a pony, and yes, that would be a good strategy. She's very beautiful so we need to keep the boys away. It's true.
