Bug: LingQ Importer Extension pulling simplified instead of traditional subtitles from VIKI

I like to use the importer extension for Netflix shows, it’s a great tool that has always worked flawlessly. Today I tried it on VIKI and unfortunately there seem to be some issues.

On Chrome, the LingQ Importer extension fails to pull the Traditional Chinese subtitles from the show Some Day or One Day on VIKI, even after having selected “Traditional Chinese” in the subtitle settings of the media player. Of course, in the LingQ importer, I also selected “Traditional Chinese”. However, the Simplified Chinese subtitles get imported instead every time.

Sorry to hear that, we’ll check it. Were you able to import Traditional Chinese from Viki without problem earlier? Did this issue just started occurring?

I had the same exact problem with the same show! Such a good show
I tried with multiple episodes - When I read the subtitles on VIKI they are definitely in Traditional, when I use the importer it becomes Simplified. Would love it if this gets resolved.

I experimented with Netflix, and was able to successfully use the importer for a show in Traditional Chinese on Netflix.

For me personally, it seems to happen with all shows that have Traditional Chinese subtitles on VIKI. Here’s a link where you can find a lot of shows on VIKI that should have those subtitles (and you can try importing them for yourself): Watch Korean Dramas, Chinese Dramas and Movies Online | Rakuten Viki

I asked our developers to check this and hopefully we will have it sorted out soon.
