Japanese learning

Hi I have just started to learn Japanese i was wondering where i should start, is there certain things i should memorize first?

Learning hiragana (one of the syllabaries) might be a good idea
The book “Remember the Kana: Hiragana” (http://www.amazon.com/Remembering-Kana-The-Hiragana-Katakana/dp/4889960724) and Learn Hiragana with sound, video, & printable worksheets for free are pretty good ressources.

As soon as you have “mastered” hiragana, learning katakana (the other syllabary) will be much easier. You´ll also be able to pronounce Kanji (chinese characters) that have Hiragana on them (this is called "furigana, by the way)

@MNM360 - Welcome! Here is a thread from about a year ago that should help: Japanese Language Learning Plan - Language Forum @ LingQ

Thank you all for the advice I look forward to trying to become fluent in Japanese:)
