Korean E-books (for children)

Tons of free, downloadable ebooks at http://kids.korean.go.kr/
Although geared towards children, these books are great for students of Korean.

All thanks goes to Shanna at www.hangukdrama.com ! Check out her blog–it’s beautiful!

Hi, Justin,

just scroll to the first box 01–click on that. Box 02 and 03 are parent & teacher resources. Once you’re in you’ll see different reading levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on. Click on the light green box to read online, or click on the dark green box to download the pdf.

Alright thanks i found it.

Justin,

In my experience, children’s books are actually pretty difficult. A lot of imaginative adjectives and adverbs that I’ve never seen used anywhere else. Feel free to try them out, but don’t feel discouraged if you’re having trouble understanding them.

If you’re looking for fun, light content, I’d recommed Naver webtoons: 네이버 웹툰 They’re mostly dialogue, and it’s pretty easy to get sucked into a story and forget you’re reading it in Korean. The only problem is, there’s no way to use webtoons on LingQ, so I end up looking up every word I don’t know on my phone manually :frowning:

I’m currently reading 노블레스 ( 네이버 웹툰 ). Stupid vampire / superhuman fighting story, but entertaining and not heavy on text. Give it a try, and if it bores you there are dozens of other webtoons to choose from.

These ebooks are very easy. There are a number of storybooks, and a series of picture books/dictionaries that serve as foundational teaching of basic and essential vocabulary. These “pic-dict” range from 30pp–236pp. Here’s how it’s structured: picture—word—sentence with word used in context.

Examples:

  1. picture of two kids pinky shaking-- word 약속 - sentence 친구와 놀이터에서 만나기로 약속을 한다.
  2. picture of two kids reading comic books–word 재미있다 – sentence 친구와 함께 책을 읽으면 재미있다.
  3. …이야기—할머니가 해 주시는 이야기는 재미있다
  4. …어린이집—어린이집에는 선생님과 친구들이 있다.
  5. …지도—지도에서 땅과 바다를 찾는다.
  6. …지붕—우리 집 빨간 지붕 위에 새가 앉아 있다

Yvette, thank you for your information of E-Book, I will use for my child, 고마와요! 谢谢您

Sure, no problem! You’re welcome. 천만에요. ^^

I noticed there is not much korean content on lingQ so do you upload contact such as ebooks often?

For one reason or another it is a tricky process searching for Korean content in the library. If you are willing to play around with the search buttons something will pop up eventually. Try searching under ‘providers’. You can also go to my profile page, where I’ve listed all the Korean content I uploaded. I created this list to ease the burden of looking for Korean lessons. The Korean library is steadily growing, so stay tuned in…!

I do not upload ebooks into LingQ because there is no audio for them. You can upload some of the stories for private study, but you will have to type out the text as some of the pdfs cannot be copy-pasted. There is a wealth of Korean material on the internet, and it’s rather easy to find texts to bring into lingQ for private use. Also, check out the resource page in the ‘Import’ section–there’s plenty there to explore.
