What I meant to say is… in Who is she 2, the male speaker says 오빠, which I was very surprised to hear said by a man. Is it possible, because he’s responding directly to what the woman said?

It is not possible to edit posts. It is on our list but not high on the list with all the other things we have to do.

Robg, I’m just a beginner with korean but heres my explation. Guys dont say 오빠 when they talk about other guys who are older than them. They say 형 ( 兄 ) ( which you probably already knew). IN this case the guy doesnt know who 오빠 is so hes just refering to him as the girls 오빠 ( who he doesnt know). I’m sure if he knew who 오빠 was he would be using some other term depending on his relationship to the " 오빠 ".
It can be used by a male in the sense used in the lesson, where the speaker doesn’t know the 오빠. It is also possible for a male to refer to himself as 오빠 if he is talking to his 여동생. “I [brother] will do it for you/오빠 해줄께”. It might also be used if the speaker was talking about a girl’s boyfriend.
I’ve heard the reverse used many times. One female friend (누나) of mine often says things like “형 어디 갔어?” to me when talking about her husband.
