日本からハガキを受け取りました。漢字は一つ分かりません。
「今日は成人の日で日本は・・・日です」。
「Because it is the Coming of Age day, today is a holiday in Japan」と思います。
でも分からない漢字は「殺」とみたいです・・・
Ok, I will try to describe this kanji, as I can’t find it anywhere and I don’t have an opportunity to scan it.
at the left side there is 木 with 人 above it. The right side looks like 口 (above) and 人 (below), although I see that the left side, the bottom side of the square and the left stroke of “人” was written as a one stroke.

I think the letter you cannot read is 休,because holiday means 祝日(or休日) in Japanese. We donot have the term 殺日 in Japanese.
Written kanji looks different depend on the person who write it.
Sorry. Not 休、but 祝.

chikaraさんが書かれているように それは祝日 (holiday) の 祝 という漢字ですね。 祝日は しゅくじつ って読みます。 祝う は いわう って読みます。 to celebrate の意味です。
