Edit: I just checked, the bug of reducing your wordcount is not yet fixed.

On browser: The minus symbol (-) in the statistics of a lesson does not update the total wordcount. It is merely superficial and doing it seems not to save. When you close the lesson, reopen it, the statistics are what they were before you clicked (-). The plus symbol (+) updates the total wordcount. I checked this by having a second tab open of my profile and refreshing it to see if it updates my wordcount for today. It goes up when I press (+), but it does not reduce when I press (-).

so this is a screenshot of the vocabulary list that I took yesterday from the German course in the app. Not only that Portuguese is mixed with German, also the total number of German vocabulary is less than it is supposed to be.

As for the change of flashcards per session, this seems to work now...

If a sentence translation or popular meaning doesn't already exist, we do pull a translation from Google translate. There must have been an issue with the connection to Google translate last night. It all seems fine now.

Thanks for the updates! I'm enjoying clicking around in the updated app - definitely had to adjust the font size right away! - and I appreciate the iterative improvements. I'm excited to be able to copy-paste from the word pop-up or the reader, it will make sharing text with others to get help with more unusual idioms much easier!

To answer your question: This is the lesson I was trying to open with an image right up at the start of it: - Thankfully with the update, I am able to open the lesson. However, I still don't have any of the font stylings nor does the image display in the text at all. There's no "broken image" icon either to indicate it's missing in the app either - I only know it's not there because I'm looking for it!

New comments on issues I didn't mention before: If I finish a lesson towards the end of the day, when I click through to 'View Lesson Stats" all three Activity charts claim I've made 0 progress (0 Lingqs created; 0 known words; 0 coins). I do see them when I back out to the home screen and look at my stats for the full day. I've noticed that on the rare occasion that I complete lessons earlier in the day, those charts will be accurate, but I haven't yet narrowed down when it switches to claiming zero progress for the rest of the day. (The streak and Lesson stats of reading/listening appear to be working fine.)

Speaking of that stat screen for the full day - the good is that I like the updates y'all have made here, it looks really nice! The one issue, however, is that the default chart option of 7 days is incorrect: it currently shows me the full period for which I've had a subscription/account (so, since early Feb), and the cumulative chart is not actually cumulative, as it shows the same chart as listed in the "daily" section (which appears to be accurate, just for my full account instead of only the past seven days). To say it another way (hopefully more simply), both "cumulative" and "daily" activity charts under Activity - when set to "Last 7 days" instead show me the daily activity for my full subscription period of ~2/09 through 5/23. Any other period that I have data for (Last 14 days, last 30 days, this month, last month) does not appear to have this issue, seem fine, so this is only for the "last 7 days" charts.

Finally, another Android-app-specific issue I've noticed (both before and still after this update) is that on any of the Hardcore 90-day challenges (at least for French), the Lingqs, Lingqs Learned, and Known Words progress bars all work fine. However, the Hours of Listening and the Words of Reading progress bars are both perpetually at 0/no progress. I can see my progress on each of these if I switch over to a browser (mobile or desktop), so I know it's there, it's just not reflected on the challenge page when using the Android app.

Edit: Actually, have just noticed one two new things since the app update. First, it used to be that I could click on my current definition, make a quick edit, then just close the word pop-up and my edit would save. It no longer does that. Instead, I now only seem to be able to edit it by completely deleting the Lingq/ forgetting the word, then marking it as level 1 (for example) and then typing in my full (and correct) definition, then pressing the "Done" button on my keyboard before closing the pop-up. (I don't have that same "Done" key when trying to edit an existing definition- not sure why it's calling up two different versions of my keyboard in those two contexts?) This is the same whether my original definition is one I typed in with a typo, or one I've taken from the list of other user definitions and am now try to edit to improve it for my use.

Second, while the variability to font/size/line spacing is great, the update seems to have also removed the spaces between paragraphs. Looking at my older screenshots, there was always nearly a full line of space between paragraphs - arguably more than necessary, but at least it was clear where one began and another ended. Now, the paragraphs are right next to each other with the same line spacing as within the paragraph itself. So, if one ends at a length that means the last line takes the full length of the screen, it becomes indistinguishable from the next paragraph. This is already tripping me up in French (which doesn't use any end quotation marks), as one character's dialogue then seems to continue on longer into sentences that are narration, confusing me until I figure that out.

If you are doing a reading a lesson on LingQ Android, then you navigate away from the app, when you return to the app, it will count that same page again, all words on that page, as if you've read the entire page a second time. But obviously, you don't, cause you just continue reading, where you left off. I don't know how long the page has to be opened for before it counts it twice, but either I'm too slow to go to the next page, too slow of a reader, or the timer isn't functioning properly. I don't know. Whatever the case may be, it's not functioning as it is intended.

For example, if you have a 10 page lesson and you navigate away from the app twice because you received a message or a phone call or to check the weather on another app or whatever, these are the pages you will see counted:

1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 = a total of 12 pages counted

At the end of the lesson, when you click 'complete', you will see 'read 1.2x', which is obviously incorrect, because you only read it 1.0x.

Then, as others also mentioned in the below forum thread, because everyone has the same issue, they manually use the '-' button to reduce times read. Some reduced it to 0.0x then used the '+' to put it back to 1.0x. But the '-' button does not work! So everyone who has been doing this has been getting the inflated wordcount from keep reopening the LingQ app in the middle of a lesson PLUS adding 1.0x to every lesson. (The reason they reduced it to 0.0x in the first place, then to add 1.0x is because you can reduce only in intervals of 1.0x, as opposed to intervals of 0.1x, which would be ideal.)

And this is not mentioning the times, which sometimes happen (haven't figured out when exactly yet), when you reopen the app and it's not on the exact page you left it on, but skipped back several pages, so you have to swipe three times to get back to the page you started on (and they are counted to the word total). So, in reality, the pages counted might look like this:

1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 = a total of 14 pages counted

The temporary fix is just to fix the '-' button to make it work (instead of only superficially showing that you reduce it in the lesson, but not actually reducing your total wordcount in your overall stats), then everyone can manually reduce the inflated numbers on our end.

Thanks for the reply! Yes. It seems to me that when you have a 'properly formatted' book (that is, with the correct paragraph breaks, and sentence breaks) it adds the book nicely and creates automaticaly the next lessons. However, if the text file is not 'properly divided' with said breaks, the whole book will load (or try to) in just one lesson (or will only create one and not the rest of lessons since each lesson has a word limit), which is insane and will cause your screen to freeze or outright close your browser haha
