How come there is no cancel button in my accounts page? Is it hidden on purpose, because the help page tels me it should be there. This forum post surely cannot be the only option.

Cancel Account button deletes the account and all data completely and is available to Free users only. Premium users first need to cancel subscription under the Change Plan button, and once account drops to the Free plan, option to delete account completely will be available to them too.
So, there is a difference between canceling the subscription and canceling the account.

My account i can see "1 Month Premium (renewing on February 21, 2023)", can you confirm the auto renewal is disabled even though it says it will renew on the 21st? Thanks.
Can you also confirm the auto renewal will always stay disabled on my account so i dont have to message here every time i decide to use Lingq? Or will it get enabled when i go to premium again?

@dynuel It is disabled, no worries, you won't be charged automatically again. However, next time you upgrade, it will enable auto-renewal again so you need to disable it or let me know and I'll do it for you if you have issues.

Hello, I would also like to both cancel (I thought I had done this as the button on the membership gave me an option to reactivate my account, making me assume it was inactive) and refund my membership. Since I thought, due to LingQ's ridiculous cancellation process, that I had already cancelled my membership, I have just been charged 200USD which I definitely cannot afford right now, for a service I haven't used in over a year.
I have also tried myself to cancel and sent an email, but I am posting here for visibility as I really need my refund asap.

I read in another post that you have to cancel your subscription to change your payment method. Therefore, I would like to cancel my subscription.

Sorry to hear you're looking to cancel.
In order to cancel/delete your account completely you must first downgrade. Click the "Change plan" button on the page (https://www.lingq.com/settings/#account), change your plan to free, and then the "Delete your account" button will be visible on the same page.
If you want to cancel your subscription only, but keep account active, just cancel subscription and that's it.

We will try to simplify the downgrade process in the upcoming update. Until then, just keep in mind that the Delete Account and Cancel subscription are two different things.
Delete Account option is available to FREE users only, while PREMIUM users first need to cancel subscription under the "Change Plan" and after their account drops to Free, they will see the Delete Account button too.

Not so simple. when i try to downgrade i have to jump through several hoops, ending up at "delete imported/unshared lessons", which i am somehow unable to do. So I can't get to the Free account level where I can see the delete/cancel account. PLEASE either drop me to free or cancel my account IMMEDIATELY, or I will have to block any further payments to you from my credit card.

Unfortunately this is not working, I can only change to other memberships. It's very annoying that it's impossible to cancel a membership.. I had the same problem the last time. It's a bit weird that you can only cancel trough a blog page in my opinion. I really liked LingQ itself, but for me this is a reason to never subscribe again.
