Hi, how would you translate Bairrismo into English? I understand it, but I do not know what to put in my notes.
Since it’s a word tied to a cultural phenomenon I think it is very hard to find one word to write down in a box that encapsulate the meaning of the word. I did look up the word myself and I wrote quite a long response about the many ways how you can translate it into English but foolishly whipped it out when I realised that your mentioned you understand the word and that you are a native English speaker.
Depending on context I’d translated it as neighborhood watch group, neighborhood activism and there was also a third that I can’t remember. In the whipped out version of this post I did go through my reasoning regarding the translation of the word. I can re-write that part of the post as well but not right now at this moment.
