How to cancel my membership?
@zoran Please downgrade me as well. There are 10 different courses I imported, that will not delete. I tried different browsers and computers. So lingq doesnt let me downgrade.

A fee was charged automatically today. Is it possible to make the payment manually when I need to use a premium plan? If this is not possible, can my plan be changed to free when my premium plan expires. If you can tell me how I can delete my card data from the account or if it is not possible for you to do so because I do not see how to delete them but only how to change them. Thanks in advance!
@drimer I disabled the auto-renewal on your account and it will drop to the Free plan on February 10.
Hello, I really would like to downgrade completely due to changed circumstances, I like the platform but I need to downgrade and have tried several times, and deleted content as requested, I have also sent a couple of emails, please help!

You might want to point out to LingQ that the system MUST be improved!
It should be easier for members to cancel their membership - after all it's been more than 10 years and LingQ is STILL SUFFERING from exactly the same problems.
Also, tutors should be valued more!
Sending me an automated mail this morning at 6am reminding me that "It has been 24 hours and mikiego's conversation request is still waiting for me to respond" is really not acceptable. I accepted this request a week ago and corresponded with the student through lingQ prior to the conversation and during the conversation and ended up waiting 2 hours for the student yesterday.
Ideally LingQ should give the points to the tutor and return points to the student. Spuriously claiming the tutor didn't accept the conversation request in a mail sent this morning is rather revealing of LingQ's dubious way of handling tutors.
It's about time LingQ started valuing its members and its tutors.

I think you should point out to LingQ that it is time to value members and tutors.
It is now 11 years that members have been unable to cancel their membership without help.

Time also to start valuing tutors' time. I invested more than two hours yesterday waiting for a student and corresponding back and forth on the LingQ platform.
Sending me an automatic mail this morning with the subject matter "LingQ Pending Conversation Request" with the following text "It has been 24 hours and mikiego's conversation is still waiting for you to respond"

is very revealing of LingQ - particularly as I accepted the request over a week ago!
LingQ should not hid behind lies but should allocate points to the tutor and refund points to the student.
LingQ could greatly benefit by valuing members and tutors.

@johann.grobe If you want to keep your data saved, during the downgrade flow you will be offered to get the Vacation plan, and keep your data saved for as long as you want for only $2usd/month.

Hi Zoran, I just made a stupid mistake. I thought I was paying for the subscription monthly but turns out i've paid for the full two years upfront.

Please note that 6, 12, and 24-month memberships are all charged the full amount at once. That is the reason why they are cheaper on average per month compared to a monthly membership. In case you want to be charged each month separately, you should take the monthly subscription instead.

Hi Zoran, as stated in a post in the forum some months ago I decided not to continue with my languages learning process through lingq. It was painful for me to import content and as I guessed it would be easier to find a better alternative (wich I did but will not advertise here to not being unpolite) in the market than going through a nightmare of a process here to be able to import the stuff I wanted. Just clicked to downgrade my account to free, hope it is sufficient with that. Just give you notice in case you have to do something.

It is unfortunate that the option to close the account is so intricate. One needs the acumen of Sherlock, and the patience of Job, to muddle through the Byzantine labyrinth required to close the account. Even so, don't expect closure. Thank goodness, the clear path presented with PayPal for closure can be optioned; otherwise, monies could be withdrawn indefinitely, apparently. Sad.

That said, what happens to your payment if you subscribed and realized several after the payment was processed that you want to cancel? Does LingQ take the money once you immediately drop to FREE so for Steve or the Admin team its free money?? Or is it like other subscription services where the next payment you automatically dropped to the FREE version after the due date & it stops charging your card???
I totally understand what you're saying interms of the wrong messaging from a business stand-point. On the other hand there's no personalization to the membership either. Its not like Steve or his team would contact us if we cancelled expressing their heart-felt disappointment that we left the platform. Its as if they don't care if we embrace it or not or reach out to see how our language learning is going. None cares about how my french learning is going, they don't care if I become fluent & use it one day. At the end of the day its about money. "sigh" its the part about business I don't understand nor like.
Essentially it seems as though they don't care if we subscribe or not. Its ironic: LingQ is about language learning to communicate and yet there's no outgoing communication or even attempt to retain veteran users of the platform.

Looks like I am not the only one having this issue. I would like to downgrade to the free app for now. I cannot afford all of my subscriptions and I have to cut some of them. Sadly, Lingq is going to have to be one of them. Once my husband finds a new job I hope to return, but for now I simply cannot afford it. How can I downgrade?

I have tried to delete my account. It seems impossible. Kind request from my side to delete it. It is annoying that I have to spend my time looking for answers. You give instructions on what I need to do, but you don't explain HOW to do it. I would like to have a confirmation of the deletion on my mailbox.
