자(子)-son and daughter

Tons of words with this hanja. Must be among the most used ones.

How are you selecting the hanja you focus on? Following the standard hanja levels or do you just pick them up as you go?

Your first statement is correct. There are thousands of words to use with 자. The first 10 Hanja characters came from Talk to Me In Korean Youtube Channel, specifically from the Korean Jigsaw Puzzle Hanja playlist. The second statement is correct too.

As for your questions, I will do this didactically.
To answer your first question, I use the first 10 Hanja characters from Talk to Me in Korean. As of right now, I choose either randomly or in regards to a topic that I want to know. For example, I want to know various vocabulary words in a certain Hanja character.

To answer your second question, I do not know see this based on standard Hanja levels. I think that there are based on either commonality or the levels of difficulty. Nowadays, I pick them up as I go.

Ok I see. I used SRS down to level 5 I think (~300 characters) but right now doing the same as you, just picking them up as I go along. Would be nice to know the “first” 1800 characters but it is not on the top of my priority list right now. Wish there were more hanja in use today so I could go all in on it.

Anyway, best of luck with the characters! Looking forward to future posts.
