Tot en met -- Translation of 'tot en met' from Dutch to English

I’ve never heard of anyone saying “until and including” or “till and including,” so if ‘tot en met’ is translated this way, this is news to me.

“To and including” (Great Britain) or “up to and including” (America), certainly, but I think there are better ways of saying this.

I’m not fond of interpreting ‘tot en met’ as until (or till), because ‘until’ implies that the last day is not (fully) included.

“We blijven tot en met zondag,” for example, actually means we’ll be leaving (the hotel by the check-out time) on Monday.

Where I come from in America, it would be sufficient to say, “We’ll be staying through Sunday” or “We’re leaving on Monday.” / “We’re checking out on Monday.”

Whereas, “We’ll be staying until Sunday” would imply that we’re leaving / checking out on Sunday.
In Dutch: We blijven tot zondag.

“De periode is van 1 juli tot en met 30 september.”
(gesproken: De periode is van één juli tot en met dertig september.)

Where I come from in America, it would be sufficient to say,
“The period is from July 1 through September 30.”
(there is no need to say “up to and including September 30.”)

However, it is my understanding that in Great Britain, it is preferable to say,
“The period is from July 1 to September 30 inclusive.”
