BRUSH UP YOUR GRAMMAR SKILLS, 3. Present Continuous or Present Simple

3.

Present Continuous or Present Simple

In the evening I often go to see my friends.
This evening I’m visiting my friend Mary.
Jonathan gets up very early as he lives far from school.
I’m writing a letter to my grandmother who lives in Edinburg.
I write to her very often because I know she is always waiting for my letter.
It’s 7 o’clock in the evening now.

I’m doing my homework, my sister is reading a magazine, and my mother is cooking.
When do you begin your lessons on Monday? – We begin our lessons at 9 o’clock.
I’m looking for a good English dictionary. Do you have one on sale?
I hope you understand why I sometimes use the Present Continuous and sometimes the Present Simple.
If you don’t understand, you can ask me.
I wish you much success in learning English!
