Suspected Bug - listening in LingQ not adding up

Yesterday I listened to the mini-stories for about 30 minutes (the only listening I did in the app itself) and LingQ showed 0 minutes listened.

All my listening activities today have been in LingQ. Most is showing up in my stats, but I again listened to the mini-stories for about 20-30 minutes and that time didn’t add in.

I created a playlist called ‘Mini-stories’ (months ago, this is not a recently change to my playlists or anything), so the issue could be with the mini-stories themselves or it could be with my created playlist. Other content listened to in LingQ is in other playlists, and they seem to have counted towards my listening stats.

Edited to add: It’s is now happening randomly. Listening never adds from the mini-stories, but now it’s also not adding from random tracks in other playlists. I have listening for about an hour this morning, all in LingQ, no mini-stories this time, and only 0.27 minutes have been logged. All on my iPhone.

Any idea what’s going on?

Edited (again) to add: Still not fixed. This was reported over three weeks ago. I absolutely love LingQ, but one of the key features of the app not working for nearly a month is really disappointing.

Sorry to hear that. Are you using iOS or Android app for listening?

I am having the opposite problem. For the third time, I was out walking my dog and listening to the LIngQ Podcast, I probably listened for 75 minutes. When I got back, it had recorded 100.33 hours. By doing the math, that is 1:33 hours. So it added 100 hours.

I will add that I am on iOS.

That must be some good podcast

Correction: it is adding 99 hours.

It was a good podcast. Too bad my Apple Watch didn’t give me 100 hours of exercise.

I use iOS for listening.

Hi. It’s is now happening randomly. Listening never adds from the mini-stories, but now it’s also not adding from random tracks in other playlists.

We will push a fix for this soon. Thanks for your patience everyone.

I’m on android and have been noticing similar behavior especially in the last couple days. FWIW it seems like things are working ‘normally’ (or at least ‘more normally’) on the desktop site.

Any update on this? It’s still happening, and understanding the time I’ve spend listening is now becoming really frustrating. You mentioned there was a fix in progress… when will it be available?

This issue has still not been resolved. This was reported over three weeks ago. I absolutely love LingQ, I really do, but one of the key features of the app not working for nearly a month is seriously disappointing. And I know this isn’t the only bug, it’s just the one that happens to be affecting me the most.
At what point do we start getting refunded for features not working?

Strange, we are unable to reproduce the issue on our end. Tried on various lessons and listening time is count correctly.
Can you try reinstalling the app and let me know if that helps?

Okay. I just deleted the app from my iPhone and redownloaded it. I listened to the Turkish mini-stories (from my own playlist entitled ‘mini-stories’, to which I have added all the mini-stories, so not from the main site) for about five minutes just to test it, and the time did not add to my daily activity. I have done no listening in LingQ today, only this five minute mini-story activity. The counter is still at 0 hours listened.

Interestingly, this exercise also reset my listening activity per lesson (the number of times I have listened to a lesson) back to zero on a number of lessons. Not all of them though. So, all mini-stories have been reset to zero times listened, and then random lessons in other playlists. I can’t be sure, but I believe the lessons that have reset to zero are the same lessons which are not counting to the daily activity when I listen to them.

I just checked on my Android tablet and the web too. I never listen on these, but just for completeness I checked. The hours didn’t add up on any device, and the number of times listened have reset to zero on all devices.

FWIW I just listened to an entire imported YouTube video of 1:17 yesterday on desktop (Chrome) and my stats from yesterday show 0.26 hours listening time. I had imported the youtube vid using the Android app earlier if it matters.

I’m pleased I’m not the only one!
I had been using LingQ as my tracker - perhaps others haven’t noticed as they don’t track their time, or maybe they just use another method (I’ve also had to start doing this, unfortunately. LingQ is no longer reliable for this purpose, which is such a shame).

@Zoran, if it helps, the lessons I’ve had trouble with have been a mixture of content already on LingQ (mini-stories and some pre-loaded YouTube content) and some content I imported using the web browser extension on my desktop.
