The more you weigh, the harder you are to kidnap

The more you weigh, the harder you are to kidnap.

I know it’s like a joke.
But I just want to know if it is okay to use “to kidnap” here?
You don’t need to use the passive voice, “to be kidnapped”?

Thank you!!!

In this instance, when the poster says “to kidnap,” it is actually saying “to be kidnapped” in the sense that you’re thinking. The English here is unusual in that it implies “to be kidnapped,” but it says “to kidnap” and still means the same thing. So, to answer your question, yes, you can say “to be kidnapped” here, although English speakers will use “to kidnap,” as it is more natural in our speech.

Yeah, it’s correct. Because you are the object of the infinitive “to kidnap”. You could extend the implication of the sentence to say “The more you weigh, the harder it is for somebody to kidnap you.” But it would also be correct to say “The more you weigh, the harder it is for you to be kidnapped.” The way the meme says it is probably the most economical with words though.
