English Conversations with Cliff LMA004, LJILJANA w CLIFF #2.1

LJILJANA w CLIFF #2.1

So today, Liliana and I went a little off script. We didn't talk about any of the, getting to know you, uh, topics, but we talked about something that was, uh, important and meaningful to the both of us, which is writing. And she shared with me some of the anxiety that she has about, uh, presenting and writing in English and a drive to be perfect with it like a native speaker. Um, and I told her about some of the experiences that I've had, uh, training people who are not native speakers to write in English, professionally. And we talked about the importance of reading in the language that you're going to write. Um, and the practice of reading as a writer, which means paying attention, not only to the subject matter and the information in that written material, but also the way that the, that the text is written to pay attention to the language and the presentation as well.

And we wrapped it up with a lot of enthusiasm for the upcoming updates, um, that will be in written form. And I am very excited to see her growth. I have a really great feeling about where she's headed.
