What is the difference between “acorda” and “levanta”? And when should I use which?

“Acordar” is the same as “to wake up”, whereas “lavantar” is the same as “to stand up”. When referring to the act of waking up, though, they are interchangeable verbs.

I should add that “levantar” may also have other meanings, for example: to lift weights, “levantar pesos”.
