I have started to learn Greek and notice that many of the translations offered are incorrect ( e.g. “συγχορείτε” as a noun “Entschuldigung!”) It’s not entirely wrong, but it’s just partly.
This is not very helpful at the beginning, because the beginner is very dependent on the help the program gives. Of course you can check everything and compare it in other dictionaries, but that takes a lot of time. I know that at LINGQ the translations are fed by the participating users and that is certainly a good thing. But especially at the beginning it is difficult if the basic vocabulary in its forms is not exactly named…
Can it be that only a few people learn Greek?

Hi Bernd, your observation is exactly what I encounter(ed) learning modern Greek here, and yes, the combination German–Greek seems to be quite rare. I worked my way through “Who is She?” and “Eating out” as well as “A Day in the Greek”/“Another Day…” avoiding the defaulted mark word as known feature, so you should be able to find correct user hints for most of the words in these series. When I have the time, I write down more than one translation and especially for verbs, I add the verb forms.
If there isn’t a user hint, the automatic hint seems to be made via English, leading to the typical error you described (Greek word is a verb, automatic hint is a noun) or even worse, a Greek word translates to an English word that has several not connected meanings in German and the hint presented by Lingq is chosen from these meanings. Your’re right, it’s very time consuming. So let’s improve this 
Btw for verb forms, I use lexigram.gr.
It’s excellent, but the free version is very limited. You can try it and after that, you can just analyze one word per day. If you pay, you can use it for a year on five machines, if I recall correctly. Doesn’t cost a fortune!

it’s great that you responded to my request so quickly and so competently. It’s really helpful to know that there are people who are working so hard on the program. A side effect of the hard search in the different dictionaries is that I learn a lot from it. Unfortunately, I forget so many details and sometimes I don’t know where I got the information from

Just to add to that - there’s this free site - Cool Modern Greek Verb Conjugator | Cooljugator.com - which has the various verb conjugations as well. It’s not 100% accurate, but pretty close to that.
