Create LingQ = know the word?

When I came across a blue word, it shown translation that only work as a online dictionary for me. I’m wondering:
1, I couldn’t remember the definition without checking when I meet it again
2, I might not meet the word again in the reading afterward.

How can I get advantages in using LingQ? easier to remember difficult words?

Every time you have to check a word, take a second to think about the word and the meaning. If you don’t think about it, you probably won’t remember it.

If you find a word that you want to learn, but are afraid you won’t see it again, you can put a tag on the word. That way you won’t lose it, because you can look it up under “My Vocabulary.”

If you feel like you aren’t learning any words, you might want to try reading some lessons more than once.

Just my thoughts on it…

LingQ includes several different kinds of review exercises to help you review anything that you have made yellow. (By the way, it is often very helpful to highlight a PHRASE rather than a single word, especially if it is a phrase that is very common or one that you want to learn right now.)

The day after you read a lesson you will receive an email from LingQ, reminding you of 20 new lingQs that you made the previous day. You can choose in “settings” how you want to review them: (1) with multiple choice exercises (the easiest in my opinion), (2) with a “cloze” function (which provides the phrase for context), (3) flash cards, (4) reverse flash cards and (5) dictation (the hardest in my opinion). (You can choose to do all multiple choice exercises at first until you know the words better.) I strongly recommend doing the exercises, especially for the words that you want to learn NOW or think are very basic. Do them until you answer them correctly two times in a row – three times in a row is better.

Personally, I find it helpful to write by hand the words that I want to learn right now. I also write sentences with the new vocabulary and grammar.

Do more reviews of words that are more basic. Then you yourself USE the words, including saying them out loud in short sentences. Also, listen to and read each lesson several times. From time to time, listen to an old lesson. For me, the best way to remember a word is to USE it.
