I like to read articles in Russian language about interesting things, here at Lingq we have shkolazhizn, which is very good because have text with audio.
I recently found a website named adme.ru, here the articles are usually more interesting that shkolazhizn, but the problem they dont come with audio.
So if you are provider and you are looking for interesting content to publish, i think thats a good suggestion.

THe low of the author rights (=copyright) bans to use for publlic the modern articles.
I can use only the works of the authors who died longer than 70 years ago or make up my own articles.
But you can use all published articles as private lessons, without sharing them.
As Evgueny points out, even adding voice to any content without the permission of the creator of that content, would be an infringement of copyright. LingQ has permission to use anything on Echo Moskvi (http://echo.msk.ru/interview/). There you will find interviews and podcasts on a variety of subjects, all with audio and text. There is a lot of their material in our library, and you can ask us to load more. Another good source of audio and text material is out of copyright classics of literature for which audio books are often available, and the e-texts can easily be found on the internet. These were great sources for me, however, the audio files cannot be shared. However, if you import a book, you can share that with other individuals on LingQ. I use a program called Calibre to convert from PDF or other files into text files and then import whole books into LingQ. The audio I treat separately and upload to my mp3 player.

I understand about copyright, however most of the texts on adme.ru are just translations from viral articles or historys on English websites, they are just translating them to Russian and posting them on their site, is not that also copyright?.
Besides i think if you put a text from another site you can always add at the end the link of their website. Or are the copyright laws really so strict?

If you only use a sentence or a part of a sentence you have to make clear that it is a quotation and where it is from. And more than a small quotation is not allowed.
I’ve read on your profile that you are a teacher from spain. Have you never heard about the copyright laws? In my daughter’s school the internet and all the problems of it have been discussed when she was about 12. They spoke about what is legal and illegal on the internet, about security problems, bullying etc.
Im a teacher of Spanish Language in private schools, so such a topics about copyright are never discussed. For example in language schools we use materials (photocopys) from many books and sources, and i´ve never seen somebody saying: lets dont use this material, its got copyright!
All my experience i´ve got on the internet is that everybody is copying everybody, and even if its not ethically good, thats the reality anyway and thats how internet works. You can download any film which is on cinema and watch it and there is not a police coming after you because everybody does it and they should catch everybody on internet.
So yes, according to copyright laws, that website itself is illegal too because is translating English articles to their own profit, but i dont think the american author of an article is going to find out his article is on Russian somewhere, or maybe they even asked permission to the author to translate his article in to their website, who knows.
Anyway all of you are complety right about the copyright laws, and i will keep all my lessons on private. Still there are a lot of plenty good material free of copyright nowadays.

Many people doing something doesn’t make it legal. LingQ as a business website has to be careful not to infringe the law. Otherwise the whole website could be stopped. But private use is fine and I use copyright material too.
To make material available for free on the internet doesn’t make it legal for every purpose. Usually content providers give permission to use the material for private use only. Some content is under CC-BY license and you can share it (but read the details of the license). Often material is under a NC license (no commercial). That means that LingQ cannot publish this kind of material.
Copying from books and give it to others is definitely illegal - same for downloading movies. In my opinion it makes a difference too, if you use it for yourself or use in in public (for teaching). I would be careful. “…there is not a police coming after you because everybody does it…” You are wrong. They are looking more and more for copyright infringement and you can read every day in our newspapers about people who had to pay lots of money for this reason. In some countries they block your internet access (search for “three strikes”).
I often found it amazing how common it is to publish copyrighted material on the internet. I’m sorry but I’ve to say that I’ve found these infringements often on Russian websites.
Was the “Russian for Everybody” course on LingQ removed because of copyright infringement? I used it years ago during my first attempt to learn Russian, and still have my copy of all the books and superthin plastic records (although I don’t have a record player any more). I was just getting started reviewing the first few lessons on LingQ when the whole course disappeared.

But I remember that 30 years ago when I started to teach Russian for the foreigners, we use this book “Russian for everybody”. But after a while we rejected this book because it is too slow and a bit boring.
