Why isn’t it “die”?
Which sentence are you referring to? On the first page, I see ‘dem’ used in three sentences. The nouns are Tisch, Küchentisch, and Regal. The first two are masculine and the third is neuter.
Der Tisch
Der Küchentisch
Das Regal
This means that in the dative case, they all have dem.
