I'm a bit confused with this sentence: "Ich spreche ein bisschen Französisch, aber Deutsch spreche ich besser." Why should we say "aber Deutsch spreche ich besser", but not "aber ich spreche Deutsch besser."?

I’m a bit confused with this sentence: “Ich spreche ein bisschen Französisch, aber Deutsch spreche ich besser.” Why should we say “aber Deutsch spreche ich besser”, but not “aber ich spreche Deutsch besser.”?

We have in German direct and indirect word order - direkte und indirekte Wortfolge (like in Russian and in the difference from English).
For example, we can say in German:
Ich lerne Deutsch jeden Tag.
Jeden Tag lerne ich Deutsch.
Deutsch lerne ich jeden Tag.
(But the Verb is always on the second place!)

I’m not a native speaker, but I learned in the German course that “aber” works as position zero. Therefore you can say “aber ich spreche”. is that right?

Ich bin kein Muttersprachler, aber ich habe im DeutschKurs gelernt, dass “aber” wie Position null funktioniert. Deshalb kann man “aber ich spreche” sagen. Stimmt?
