In the corner or at the corner …which is more right

I suppose that “in the corner” is what I would use if an object is located literally in the actual corner. However, if I’m giving directions to someone, I would say “turn right at the corner…”.

It depends on the context. A long time ago, children were punished for bad behaviour. They would be asked to stand in the corner.
