We have all sorts of people in showbiz who are regarded as A-listers e.g. Brad Pitt, or Z-listers e.g. Chantelle Houghton. I’ve heard TV presenters say that both types have “starred” in some show. Brad Pitt is probably famous internationally, but Chantelle Houghton for example, is probably not known outside of England.
I think in the old days, if someone “starred” in a show, it meant they were a real star, really famous? These days, it is the age of celebrity, and all kinds of people are said to ‘star’ in all sorts of shows.
