去吃饭 CH and Q

Just started to learn Chinese, so this might be a very dumb question, but in the sentence Qi chi fan (go to eat) does Q and CH sound the same?
because i can tell the difference on I sound> after Q the I sounds clear, and after CH, doesnt sound, thats noticeable. but in the sentenche 去吃饭 ch and q sounds i cant tell the difference, do they have the same sound? I was looking in youtube some video CHi vs Qi but dint find, thats why im asking here.

Thank you

q in Chinese (Mandarin) is like ch in English; c in Chinese is similar to ts in English.

You should learn c and ch in pair, like c - ch. Other pairs: z - zh, s - sh.

thans for the answer, but my question was if CH and Q have the same sound in the sentrence QI CHI FAN? I really hear the same sound! like english CH in both

No, they don’t have the same sound. ch is closer to c in terms of tongue position, same position as when you pronounce the English “ts” (lips stretched horizontally). Whereas with q which sounds like the last two letters of “church”, your lips and tongue stretched forward, your mouth closes up, though not completely.

By the way, it is “Qù chī fàn”, not “qi chi fan”. Maybe that’s where the problem is.

They are completely different sounds.

This is probably the best overview of Mandarin pronunciation :

Pages 3, 4, and 5 cover what you after, in the best detail that I am aware.
