感动 得 不 知道 说 什么 好

感动 得 不 知道 说 什么 好
Can someone explain the use of 什么 here.
I see it used like this often and its been bugging me for ages.

Thanks in advance,
DarkLink

Here’s my interpretation of it.

感动 得: As I am moved (adverbial phrase)
不 知道: do not know (verb)
说 什么: to say what (object)
好: good; appropriate (complement)

So it is literally “(As I am) very moved, I don’t know what would be good to say”.
Or “I’m so moved I don’t know what to say”, “I’m so moved I’m at a loss for word”.

I’m no authority on this though, so I wait for confirmation or correction

Yes a probable translation!
shen me sees to be used in a variety of ways…
Thank you for this

Yes, you got it right.

“不 知道 说 什么 好” corresponds to “don’t know what to say”.

这句话就是说(this sentence means):某人很感动(someone is so touched )而不知道说什么(that he doesnt know what to say).
you also dont have to use 好 in this sentence.
