Puedes ver que están haciendo tus amigos. Is this translated, "you can see your friends are doing?" that seems right but google translate renders it, "you can see that they are making friends." Which is right?

The sentence is slightly misspelled. It should read “Puedes ver qué están haciendo tus amigos”, notice the acute accent over “qué”. That may have confused Google Translator.
Anyway, both translations are wrong, it should be:
“You can see what your friends are doing”

Google Translate just rolled out a major upgrade for currently 35% of it’s languages. It is now capable of translating entire sentences at once instead of the previous method which was phrase-by-phrase. Thus if you try this again, you now get the correct translation: “You can see what your friends are doing.”
