dum moratur hic ,
While he delays here,
Hercules accipiebat magnum incommodum ex calore solis;
Hercules was receiving great discomfort from the heat of the sun;
igitur tandem commotus ira intendit suum arcum
therefore finally, aroused with anger, he stretched his bow
et petiit solem sagittis.
and attacked the sun with arrows.
Sol tamen adeo admiratus est audaciam viri
The sun however so much admired the boldness of the man
ut daret ei auream lintrem .
that it gave to him a golden boat .
Hercules libentissime accepit hoc donum,
Hercules most gladly accepted this gift,
enim potuerat invenire nullam navem in his regionibus.
for he had been able to find not any ship in these regions.
tum deduxit lintrem,
Then he launched the boat,
et nactus idoneum ventum,
and having obtained a favourable wind
post breve tempus pervenit ad insulam.
after a short time he arrived to the island.
ubi cognovit ex incolis
When he found out from the local people
in quo loco boves essent,
in what place the oxen were,
statim profectus est in eam partem
immediately he set out into that direction
et postulavit a rege Geryone ut boves traderentur sibi .
and demanded king Geryon that the cattle should be handed over to himself .
cum tamen ille nollet facere hoc,
When however he refused to do this,
Hercules interfecit et regem ipsum et Eurytionem,
Hercules killed both the king himself and Eurytion,
qui erat ingenti magnitudine corporis.
who was with enormous greatness of body.
