Recordatus autem Deus Noë, cunctorumque animantium, et omnium jumentorum, quæ erant cum eo in arca, adduxit spiritum super terram, et imminutæ sunt aquæ. And God remembered Noah, and all the living creatures, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark, and brought the spirit upon the earth, and the waters were diminished. Et clausi sunt fontes abyssi, et cataractæ cæli : et prohibitæ sunt pluviæ de cælo. And the fountains of the deep were shut up, and the waterfalls of heaven: and the rains from heaven were forbidden. Reversæque sunt aquæ de terra euntes et redeuntes : et coeperunt minui post centum quinquaginta dies. And the waters went back and forth from the earth, and they began to diminish after one hundred and fifty days. Requievitque arca mense septimo, vigesimo septimo die mensis, super montes Armeniæ. And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, on the mountains of Armenia. At vero aquæ ibant et decrescebant usque ad decimum mensem : decimo enim mense, primo die mensis, apparuerunt cacumina montium. Cumque transissent quadraginta dies, aperiens Noë fenestram arcæ, quam fecerat, dimisit corvum, qui egrediebatur, et non revertebatur, donec siccarentur aquæ super terram. And when forty days had passed, Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made, and let the raven go forth, and did not return until the waters were dried up upon the earth. Emisit quoque columbam post eum, ut videret si jam cessassent aquæ super faciem terræ. He also sent out a dove after him, that he might see whether the waters had ceased on the face of the earth. Quæ cum non invenisset ubi requiesceret pes ejus, reversa est ad eum in arcam : aquæ enim erant super universam terram : extenditque manum, et apprehensam intulit in arcam. When she did not find where to rest her foot, she returned to him in the ark, for the waters were over the whole earth. Expectatis autem ultra septem diebus aliis, rursum dimisit columbam ex arca. And when they had waited another seven days, he again let the dove out of the ark. At illa venit ad eum ad vesperam, portans ramum olivæ virentibus foliis in ore suo : intellexit ergo Noë quod cessassent aquæ super terram. But she came to him in the evening, carrying an olive branch with green leaves in her mouth: then Noah understood that the waters had ceased on the earth. Expectavitque nihilominus septem alios dies : et emisit columbam, quæ non est reversa ultra ad eum. And he nevertheless waited another seven days: and he sent forth a dove, which returned no more to him. Igitur sexcentesimo primo anno, primo mense, prima die mensis, imminutæ sunt aquæ super terram : et aperiens Noë tectum arcæ, aspexit, viditque quod exsiccata esset superficies terræ. Therefore, in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the waters on the earth diminished: and Noah, opening the roof of the ark, looked, and saw that the surface of the earth was dried up. Mense secundo, septimo et vigesimo die mensis arefacta est terra. In the second month, on the seventh and twentieth day of the month, the earth dried up.

Locutus est autem Deus ad Noë, dicens : Egredere de arca, tu et uxor tua, filii tui et uxores filiorum tuorum tecum. And God spoke to Noah, saying: Come out of the ark, you and your wife, your sons and your sons' wives with you. Cuncta animantia, quæ sunt apud te, ex omni carne, tam in volatilibus quam in bestiis et universis reptilibus, quæ reptant super terram, educ tecum, et ingredimini super terram : crescite et multiplicamini super eam. Every living thing that is with you, of all flesh, both in birds and in beasts and in every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, bring with you, and enter upon the earth: grow and multiply upon it. Egressus est ergo Noë, et filii ejus : uxor illius, et uxores filiorum ejus cum eo. So Noah went out, and his sons: his wife, and the wives of his sons with him. Sed et omnia animantia, jumenta, et reptilia quæ reptant super terram, secundum genus suum, egressa sunt de arca. And all living things, beasts, and creeping things that creep upon the earth, according to their kind, came out of the ark. Ædificavit autem Noë altare Domino : et tollens de cunctis pecoribus et volucribus mundis, obtulit holocausta super altare. And Noah built an altar to the Lord: and taking of all the clean cattle and fowls, he offered burnt offerings upon the altar. Odoratusque est Dominus odorem suavitatis, et ait : Nequaquam ultra maledicam terræ propter homines : sensus enim et cogitatio humani cordis in malum prona sunt ab adolescentia sua : non igitur ultra percutiam omnem animam viventem sicut feci. And the Lord smelled the fragrance of sweetness, and said: I will no longer curse the earth for men's sake: for the senses and thoughts of the human heart are prone to evil from their youth: therefore I will no longer smite every living soul as I have done. Cunctis diebus terræ, sementis et messis, frigus et æstus, æstas et hiems, nox et dies non requiescent. After the days of the earth, seed and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, night and day shall not rest.
