The story of the wolf in sheep's skin
كان هناك قرية بجانبها غابة يعيش بها ذئب خبير في صيد الفرائس
There was a village next to a forest where a wolf expert in hunting prey lived
وذات مرة كان الذئب مسترخيا قرب النهر
Once upon a time the wolf was relaxing by the river
بعد أن تعب من البحث عن وجبة طعام، و صار يفكر يائسا
After getting tired of looking for a meal, and thinking desperately
إني أتقدم في العمر، و مع مرور الأيام يصبح الصيد أكثر صعوبة
I'm getting older, and as the days go by, fishing becomes more and more difficult
و لابد أن أجد طريقة و إلا سوف أموت من الجوع
And I have to find a way, or I'll die of starvation
و بات الذئب مفكرا في خطة للصيد حتى غفا من النعاس
And the wolf started thinking about a plan to hunt until he fell asleep
و في الصباح التالي ذهب الذئب إلى أطراف القرية بحثا عن فريسة
And the next morning the wolf went to the outskirts of the village in search of prey
و عندما أضحى قريبا من المرعى شاهد قطيعا من الخراف
And when he became close to the pasture, he saw a flock of sheep
و كان بئر عند طرف المرعى
And there was a well at the edge of the pasture
فتسلل الذئب و اختبأ خلفه، و قال في نفسه
So the wolf crept up and hid behind him, and said to himself:
سأبقى مختبئا هنا، و عندما يمر أحد الخراف، سوف أمسكه و آكله
I'll keep hiding here, and when a sheep passes by, I'll grab it and eat it
و ظل الذئب هادئا ينتظر الفرصة المناسبة لتنفيذ خطته
And the wolf remained calm, waiting for the right opportunity to implement his plan
و بعد قليل ابتعد خروف صغير عن القطيع، و أصبح قريبا من البئر
After a while, a little sheep moved away from the herd, and became close to the well
و في لحظة واحدة وثب الذئب عليه و أمسكه بمخالبه الحادة
And in one moment the wolf jumped on him and grabbed him with his sharp claws
ثم سحبه خلف شجرة كبيرة و أكله قطعة قطعة حتى أحس بالشبع
Then he pulled it behind a big tree and ate it piece by piece until he felt full
و بعد أن انتهى الذئب من وجبته لم يبقى من الخروف شيء سوى جلده
And after the wolf finished his meal, there was nothing left of the sheep but its skin
فقال الذئب لنفسه: صار الوقت مناسبا لتنفيذ الخطة
The wolf said to himself: It is time to implement the plan
ووضع الجلد على جسمه كي يبدو مثل الخروف فلا يميزه أحد
And he put the skin on his body so that he looks like a sheep, so that no one can distinguish him
ثم تسلل بهدوء حتى وصل إلى القطيع و اندس الى الخراف
Then he crept quietly until he reached the herd and slipped into the sheep
و عندما رآه أحد الخراف سأله: أين ذهبت أيها الصغير؟ هل كنت تائهاً؟
And when one of the sheep saw him, he asked him: Where did you go, little one? Were you lost?
أجابه الذئب مقلدا صوت الخروف
The wolf answered, imitating the sheep's voice
ذهبت لألعب قرب البئر
I went to play near the well
فقال الخروف: لا تبعد عن القطيع مرة أخرى، فلا يزال خطر الذئاب قريبا
The sheep said: Do not stay away from the herd again, the danger of the wolves is still close
و عندها ضحك الذئب في سره لأن خطته قد نجحت دون شك
And then the wolf laughed in secret, because his plan had undoubtedly succeeded
و في المساء عاد القطيع إلى الحظيرة، و بات الذئب متمرسا في خدعته
And in the evening the herd returned to the barn, and the wolf became skilled in his trick
فكان يعيش بين الخراف و يذهب إلى المرعى معهم و كأنه واحد منهم
He used to live among the sheep and go to the pasture with them as if he was one of them
و كان سعيدا في حياته الجديدة لأن المكان مريح و الطعام وفير
And he was happy in his new life because the place is comfortable and the food is plentiful
و لم يعرف الراعي شيئا عن حيلة الذئب و لم يميزه بين الخراف و مر أسبوع و أسبوعان
And the shepherd did not know anything about the trick of the wolf, nor did he distinguish between the sheep, and a week and two weeks passed
و لاحظ الراعي أن عدد الخراف أصبح يتناقص كل يوم
And the shepherd noticed that the number of sheep was decreasing every day
فقال لزوجته مستغربا: أين تختفي الخراف، و أنا أراقبها جيدا؟
Surprisingly, he said to his wife: Where do the sheep hide, while I am watching them well?
و أصبحت كلاب الحراسة أكثر انتباها في المرعى
And guard dogs are becoming more attentive in the pasture
و لكن عدد القطيع استمر بالتناقص
But the number of the herd kept decreasing
و لم يكن أحد يدري أن الخطر ليس في المرعى بل في الحظيرة نفسها
And no one knew that the danger was not in the pasture, but in the barn itself
و هكذا كان الذئب يختبئ في الحظيرة و ينتظر حلول الليل
And so the wolf was hiding in the barn and waiting for nightfall
و بعد أن ينام الجميع يختار خروفا صغيرا
And after everyone sleeps, he picks a little sheep
و يأخذه بسرعة خلف الجدار ليأكله
He quickly takes it behind the wall to eat it
ثم يرمي البقايا في حفرة عميقة و يعود للنوم بين القطيع
Then he throws the remains into a deep pit and returns to sleep among the herd
و مع هذه الوفرة في الطعام أصبح الذئب العجوز سمينا
With this abundance of food, the old wolf became fat
لدرجة أنه يبدو أسمن خروف في القطيع
So much so that it looks like the fattest sheep in the herd
و ذات يوم جاء أقرباء الراعي من القرية البعيدة لزيارته
One day, the shepherd's relatives came from the far village to visit him
و كان الراعي كريما فقال لزوجته: سوف نقيم وليمة لإكرام ضيوفنا
And the shepherd was generous and said to his wife: We will hold a feast to honor our guests
و كانت زوجته كريمة أيضا فقالت له
اذهب و أحضر خروفا سمينا كي نطبخه
Go get a fat sheep so we can cook it
و لم ينتظر الراعي بل أسرع إلى الحظيرة و اختار أسمن خروف من القطيع
And the shepherd did not wait, but hurried to the barn and chose the fattest sheep from the flock
و اقتاد الراعي الخروف إلى ساحة المزرعة
And the shepherd led the sheep to the farm yard
فخاف الذئب و حاول أن يهرب، و رمى جلد الخروف عن جسمه
The wolf was afraid and tried to escape, and threw the sheep's skin off his body
فاكتشف الر اعي الحيلة الخبيثة، و أدرك سبب اختفاء الخراف
The shepherd discovered the malicious trick, and realized the reason for the disappearance of the sheep
فأسرع الراعي بسكينه وضرب الذئب ضربة قوية فقتله و ارتاح من شره
So the shepherd hurried with his knife and struck the wolf with a strong blow, killing him and resting from its evil
ثم عاد ليذبح خروفا لضيوفه
Then he came back to slaughter a sheep for his guests
ولما انتهى من ذلك عاد إلى أقربائه و حكى لهم هذه القصة العجيبة
And when he finished, he went back to his relatives and told them this amazing story
فضحكوا جميعا وأكلوا الوليمة وانتهت الحكاية
They all laughed and ate the feast, and the story ended
وتعلموا منها أن يزدادوا حذرا من مكر الذئاب
And they learned from her to be more wary of the deception of wolves
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: المكر والخديعة في النار"
