Why do we have to use sie in the sentence? Can’t we just say “ Wählen eine Lektion. ”?

I think it’s at least typical that you do include Sie in the polite form of command. For du and ihr, they are not necessary and I think generally excluded except for certain emphasis.

Whether you can exclude “Sie”, I don’t know for sure, but again, I think it’s probably at best not typical, but maybe a native German can answer this.

We have several forms of the Imperative in German:
du wählst - Wähl(e)!
ihr wählt - Wählt!
wir wählen - Wählen wir!
Sie (polite form) wählen - Wählen Sie!
NB: Sie is here written with the capital letter!
