At the same time, and a bottle has been opened, the smell of the most delightful on every side, they spread themselves out; the aroma of the wine.
The Centaurs smelled the familiar scent, and all assembled at the place.
When they reached the cave, they were greatly enraged because they saw Hercules drinking.
Tum arma rapuerunt et Pholum interficere volebant.
Then they took up arms and wanted to kill Pholus.
Hercules tamen in aditu speluncae constitit et impetum eorum fortissime sustinebat.
Hercules, however, halted at the entrance of the cave, and endured their attack most valiantly.
Faces ardentes in eos coniecit; multos etiam sagittis suis vulneravit.
He cast torches burning upon them; he also wounded many with his arrows.
These arrows were the same as those which were formerly imbued with the blood of Hydra.
Omnes igitur quos ille sagittis vulneraverat veneno statim absumpti sunt;
All, therefore, whom he had wounded with his arrows, were immediately destroyed by the poison;
but the rest, when they saw this, turned their backs, and in their flight begged for safety.
