1.6 The Mother's Threats (primer)

τοῦ νέκυος ἀνα-κρεμαμένου τοίνυν,
With the corpse having been strung up accordingly,
ἡ μήτηρ ἔφερε χαλεπῶς·
the mother bore < it> badly. καὶ δια-λεχθεῖσα τῷ περι-όντι παιδὶ
And having talked with the surviving son
προς-τάσσει αὐτῷ,
she orders to him,
ὅτῳ ἂν τρόπῳ δύνηται,
in whatever way he might be able,
ἀν-αιρεῖσθαι τό σῶμα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ·
to retrieve for burial the body of his brother.
« εἰ δὲ ἀμελήσει τούτων »
"And if he shall neglect these things",
δι-απειλεῖ ὅτι
she threatens that,
« ἐλθοῦσα πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα
" coming to the king
μηνύσει αὐτὸν δὴ ἔχοντα τὰ χρήματα.»
she will inform on HIM < as> having the treasure.
