미국의 소리방송은 오늘 유엔기구들이 지난해 조선의 중앙통계국과 실시한 영양실태 조사결과 5살이 안된 아이들의 28%인 47만6천여명이 성장에 문제가 있는 것으로 나타났다고 보도했습니다.

보고서는 이는 지난 2009년 32%에 비해 조금 나아진 것이지만 여전히 우려할만한 수준이며, 세계보건기구의 4단계 평가기준 가운데 하위 두 번째에 해당한다고 평가했습니다.

또 생후 2년 내 충분한 영양공급을 받지 못하면 발육저하와 영양실조로 이어지고, 신체성장과 지능발달에 돌이킬 수 없는 결과를 낳는다고 지적했습니다.

보고서는 이어 조선에서 급성영양실조를 겪고 있는 어린이는 6만8천여 명에 이르고 이 가운데 1만명은 심각한 상태라고 우려했습니다.

특히 젊은 여성들의 영양상태도 심각해 5살이 안된 자녀를 둔 여성 세 명 가운데 한 명은 빈혈이고, 네 명 가운데 한 명은 영양실조 상태로 조사됐습니다.

보고서는 산모의 빈혈과 저체중은 자녀의 영양상태로 직결된다며 가능한 한 임신 기간부터 철분을 포함한 충분한 영양섭취가 이뤄져야한다고 강조했습니다.

3년 만에 실시된 이번 조사는 평양 등 10개 시도에서 무작위로 추출된 7천6백여 가구를 대상으로 지난해 9월 진행됐습니다.

Voice of America today reported that a survey of UN agencies conducted last year with Chosun's Central Bureau of Statistics revealed that 476,000, or 28% of children under the age of five, had problems with growth.

3년 만에 실시된 이번 조사는 평양 등 10개 시도에서 무작위로 추출된 7천6백여 가구를 대상으로 지난해 9월 진행됐습니다. The survey, conducted in three years, was conducted in September last year on 7,600 households randomly selected from 10 attempts including Pyongyang.
